WFAA'S ED HOGAN DEAD

M

The affable host of "Dialing for Dollars" and other Channel 8 shows, along with anchor and announcing duties for WFAA radio and TV since 1950, died Monday 2/12 on his 86th birthday of congestive heart failure. Ed also worked for the old KWBC-970 in Fort Worth as a newsman and announcer.

I wonder if there is any old footage around of him spinning the barrel full of cards and using that old dial phone to call?

Ch 8's 40th anniversary program in 1989 showed plenty of still shots from "Dialing," but no live video. I don't recall any DfD mention on the 1999 anniversary show.

Ed was reporting and interviewing from Parkland, on 11/22/63. Those clips were saved with the "Jay Watson" footage.

What was that "Oh Ya" theme song they used on Dialing for Dollars in the 60's? Anybody remember?

"Do you know the count, and the amount?"

Classic!

We luv 'ya Ed!

BTW, am I the only who would watch Bowling/Dialing for Dollars, Nightmare Theatre and Studio Wrasslin' if somebody, somewhere would just throw it up on my screen?

Damn, that's good TV.
