WFAF Antenna Move

Accroding to this week's article in Scott Fybush Northeast Radio Watch:

A Hudson Valley FM station has moved its antenna, on very short notice. Cumulus' WFAF (106.3 Mount Kisco) has been on the "Darlington Castle" in Mount Kisco since its days as WVIP-FM. With that site lease near expiration at the end of this month, Cumulus moved quickly to find a new site - and last week it turned on a new 680-watt signal for WFAF from a tower site owned by the Bedford school district, about two miles southeast of the old site. The new signal, which is operating under special temporary authority, was on the air just eight days after the Bedford school board approved the tower lease.

Is there any plans to move its antenna from Mount Kisco to some place else?

Based on what I've seen, Cumulus will be at the Fox Lane (Bedford) School tower for a while. There are really not many options for them. The new site (and a pirate in the Bronx) has really impaired their signal to the west and south worse than it already was. The Fox Lane site is lower and they are using lower power. Darlington Castle was a decent site (106.3 did rather well to the north and east) considering the alternatives in the area, and the fact that you'll never get permission to build a tower near there. The owner of the Castle (it's a big house) has wanted the radio station out of there for a long time. Given the adjacent and co-channel occupants, I don't think there is too much wiggle room to move that antenna anyways.

The interesting (funny) thing is that when Cumulus came before the Bedford School Board, Cumulus promised that they would build a local, community oriented station. Things like intern programs, student run broadcasts, local football games, etc. were thrown around. Should be interesting to see how that materializes. Maybe Cumulus will run a bus from Fox Lane HS to Pendell Road. ;D
