WFAN FM HD

Now that WFAN-FM is broadcasting in HD, it now broadcasts on a delay, nine seconds behind WFAN (AM). This delay is necessary in order to synchronize WFAN-FM's analog and digital signals.

That is one thing that drives me nuts about HD on FM (but maybe that's just me). You have that nine second wait, and then you can't take the station to the ballgame (if it's a sports station), and it is no longer an accurate way of guessing what time it is; and forget about having synchronous AM/FM/Internet Streams! There is one hilarious benefit however: Where I live, I've got KLWV and KLDV (both K-Love Affiliates) coming in at equal strength, but KLDV being HD means it's signal is a few seconds behind. You get a reverb affect with the songs, and then I can listen to the legal ID of one and then switch to the other one :).

If Audacy follows what they've been doing in other markets (as reported by RadioInsight), expect to see "The Bet" appear on WFAN-HD2 sometime soon...

I doubt fans taking their pocket radio to the game is a thing in 2021. I used to do this all the time, but have not in over a decade. The main reason I used to do this was to hear the halftime show and stats, which are now on the jumbotron in real time.

How often do you try to guess the time within ten seconds? Does WFAN even have anything hard-timed in their format so that one might go "oh, there's the legal ID, better pop into my 2pm Zoom call"?

It is true that all the stats you want are plastered on screens around the stadium, and it was true with a Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Wisconsin Badgers game I went too; I think the only and main reason to hear the announcers is when they bring personality to the game calling.

Also, you just gave me a really fun idea to try. But yeah, it doesn't matter that much besides the announcers thing I mention earlier. Now that you mention it, I would love to say "Oh so my next meeting doesn't start until after my favorite show? How satisfying!"
