WFAN? LOOK WEST YOUNG MAN!

If you have some success going to the well one time, then try it on for size once again.

Birdies are tweeting that the Fandroids are looking to the mile high city for a New York born and bred voice as the possible next sidekick for he WITH THE LARGE EGO.

Carton served some time in Denver, and this next voice could be the one form the same city to get all up in the FAT MAN's face.

A mile high mouth in NYC with Francessaaaaaa?

Awww Mikey, you can't be doing that!

Denver is a dreadful town for sports talk. Not a lot of REAL TALENT there. I don't know who you can be thinking of? There are plenty of NY bred guys all over the country who grew up listening to Mike & Chris. None of the good one's are Denver. That's for sure.

Alright, but don't say I didn't tell you so when it happens.

The mile high mouth?

Answer:

I looked up Mile High Mouth. Dino Costa??? LMAO! That would hysterical. He would last 3 minutes before Francessa asked him who the hell he thinks he is and showed him the door! Not to mention that Dino fancies himself Imus Jr. w/ out the rolodex and the beltway audience. Oh God. Thanks for the laugh. What are you his brother, cousin, uncle? Him?

The guy has worked at 3rd rate (not even 2nd rate) stations in every market he's been in and his mention of working at certain places (Fox Sports Radio) lasted less than an update shift. Some of his talk show stints were even shorter (Jacksoville, Miami- was really more like a 1k watt lightbulb in ft. lauderdale). He works for some silly Radio Colorado Network now. It's like Public access radio. Reminds me of the SNL skit Wayne's World. ;D

Man oh man. Thank you for the laugh. Truly was some of the best comedy I've heard in years.

It will all come out in the wash.

I never mentioned a name and I won't.

I hadn't even a clue as to who you were speaking of until I looked up the name.

Intrigued I visited the website and what I found was some audio in the form of a demo that I started listening to.

Thought maybe I'd listen for 5-10 minutes. Listened for the entire friggin 1:17. This guy is pretty good and I thank you for turning me on to his work. Can talk up sports and politics equally well, or so it seems, and on that basis alone it would disqalify this particular individual from working at WFAN. Sports yes. Politics no.

But no, this Dino Costa is not who I was speaking of.

While I think figuratively nobody willr eplace the Mad Dog... I think Sandy Penner might be a good fit with Francesa. He used to work at the sports talk stations in Philadelphia and Charlotte (ironically, also owned by CBS). I think he's working in Tampa these days, doing something off-air.

I'd like to see Ferrell, but he's on satellite... at least he knows more sports that mad Dog did, he's off the wall, entertaining and won't last until the first commercial break with "Ego" Mike.

Mike Francessa is a fat, worthless piece of human excrement and hopefully will fall fat on his flubber now that Francessa has bolted and no one can replace what they show had. Lard-ass will get paid, but he will not find a suitable co-host who can deal with his over-inflated gut and opinion of himself. Bad guy from the git go and totally non-deserving of any accolades except he lucked out in NY when there was no talent.

You must program 3rd rate stations ::)

As a matter of fact I don't program 3rd rate stations, in fact I don't program any stations, my friend.

Whatever the case I find your comments interesting.

When I previewed the audio available on the website, I happened to find a pitter and patter that was extremely engaging, entertaining, and intelligent. The man has conversational skills no doubt. The man brings opinion drawn out in an articulative and substantive way in what I was able to glean.

He's outspoken, he's personable, I found certain segments to be laugh out loud funny, particularly his rantings on the Nuggets head coach, George Karl.

Yes, I believe this guy YOU turned me on to to be a talented talk show host.

Now, as well as you may be equipped, could you please outline your theories and or reasons as to why you don't find this particular guy to be a solid talk radio professional?

And lastly on this subject.

While you mention an 'Imus' like similarity, I must confess that I do as well.

However I also notice a blend and mixture that includes a Michael Savage like intensity, as well as some verbose qualities that liken his style to El Rushbo in some cases, in addition to his own style which is pretty interesting to say the least.

I wonder what my good friend Holland Cooke might think of this Dino Costa fellow?

As for me? Color me very intrigued.

Six words.

More trouble than he is worth.

Look maybe he is a ********, I don't know?

Then again, if he is, he'll fit right in with at least 95% of all those air talents that are on the radio these days, and in days long gone by.

My point happens to be that he's a talented guy with a command of the microphone that is above average, or, more average than many I preview. He's an original talent in a lot of ways with a mixture of some other current styles that I've mentioned already.

To me, this Dino Costa guy is an undiscovered rock that when he, if he, gets discovered by the right people, could reap big dividends.

He's legit in my book, more trouble than he's worth, or not.

Sorry I meant to post this on my previous message...interestingly I notice he's got a Sirius/XM logo on his website with a direct link to the company, and that he's no longer in Denver. Maybe he has been discovered?

Wow, this is the most comical exchange i've ever read in my life. Kirk, do you really think anyone reading this is buying the "that's not the guy I was thinking of but I just happened to listen to him and he's spectacular" routine?..."oh and by the way, now i've completely forgotten about the original guy I had in mind" rofl
Very transparent swifty. You're either Dino or Dino's mom. I would assume even Dino's mom has better things to do.
Keep enjoying Denver.

>>>Wow, this is the most comical exchange i've ever read in my life.

Enjoy the comical aspect of it. That wears off really quick.

Ferrel would be the death of WFAN..There is no one worst to listen too. Francesca would beat him up live on the air after 10 minutes

I wonder what your good friend "jeffco" thinks of you...

Wait...

Nice catch, DJ! You saved me the trouble of searching past messages, looking for the last time Dino came in here (to R-I) with the "this guy is good" routine.

Dino? We're not that slow.

If you're really as good as you think you are, good for you. I never got a chance to hear you here, because you were on perhaps the worst excuse for a rimshot station into a large market that ever existed - WATJ/1560 Chardon, known in its brief stint with the sports talk format as "SportsRadio 1560".

It was a puny daytimer trying to target Cleveland that could barely be heard in east suburban MENTOR, let alone Cleveland. The guy running the station (LMA, I believe) managed to schmooze folks like local sports talk radio favorite Les Levine to be on there, and Les must have left when he realized that the signal couldn't be heard outside of Geauga County.

Little WELW/1330 in Willoughby is a Cleveland market powerhouse compared to that signal. At least you can get WELW with little static on much of I-271.

WATJ went silent, and is no longer on the air today.

After that, you provided me with some chuckles when you wrote those breathless "Look! Our 50,000 watt transmitter JUST ARRIVED!" AllAccess help wanted ads for that new Jacksonville talk station that never went on the air - since the owners apparently changed their mind on changing from a religious format.

Anyway, it looks like you got a little notice in Denver, and I sincerely hope that if you have talent, it shines and is picked up by someone.

Trying to create "buzz" about yourself on a radio message board isn't the way to do it, though.
