WFAN Made a Huge Mistake without IMUS

The Boomer show is alright it would probably make decent mid day radio - but the station has a giant void without the IMUS lead in - they should have let it cool off and brought him back

First, it's Boomer and Carton.

Second, there are indications that this is a personal grudge between the head of CBS and Imus. Not some dunderhead management decision.

Third, considering this is a brand new show that's been on the air less than two weeks, I've enjoyed it. A lot of good interviews, and some funny bits thrown in too.

Fourth, you can't even compare Boomer and Carton to Imus, other than the fact they have the same timeslot on the same station. They replaced political talk and current events with a shock edge with sports talk with a shock edge.

I miss Imus. But I'm enjoying Boomer and Carton.
 
i have only tuned in for bits and pieces but boomer's work speaks for itself. the show isn't bad. i listen to the fan already, so listening to boomer talk about football and stuff isn't a big stretch for me. we have to give it time. it takes about a year to build a show and to build listening habits. my radio is set to wfan anyway - so it's all habit listening.
 
I think it was Starscream that said the new show is "shock edge and sports." Boomer wouldn't know edge if it bit him on the ass. I'm not saying that the show is going to tank, but anyone who thinks that Boomer Esiason will risk his all american image by standing next to Carton while he takes shots at illigal immigrants is completely out of their minds. Boomer has too much other stuff on the line to be "Edgy."

If I had to guess...Carton will be one of many people that CBS tries to pair up with Boomer before they find a winning combination.

As a random question, when is Craig going to be taking shots at illegal immigrants during a sports show?

Craig has been handling issues like the Isiah sexual harrassment suit very well.

...and if Boomer DOES leave the show because Carton gets edgy, do you think that means Carton would leave too? They'd probably pair Carton up with Carlin and Jones and/or Tracy Burgess.

I don't think Dan Mason and the WFAN braintrust reached blindly and said "Let's pick Craig Carton!"

I'm more fearing of Boomer burning out. His workload is freaking ridiculous.
