WFAN Overnights

I hear "Fantasy Phenom" winner John Jastremski has been heard on the overnights over the last couple of weeks, even referring to the show as "J.J. After Dark." Makes one wonder if regular overnight occupant Tony Paige is still on vacation... or is this all moot in 2013 when CBS Sports Radio launches and WFAN carries the Sports Babe?

Tony Paige is on a 2-week vacation to Europe.

Jastremski has referred to his show as "J.J. After Dark" on previous occasions in the various late-night timeslots he's appeared in
(primarily Saturday mornings 1-3am but he's gotten more time recently with various regular staff taking vacation time).

Sports Babe is up and running in Tampa ( 2 AM to 6 AM )

http://tampa.cbslocal.com/station/98-7-the-fan/

It 'appears' CBS Sports will use Tampa as their hub.

NOW here is the $64 question....

Will CBS use the network launch to move both WFAN and WSCR (Chicago) to FM and then run the network on AM like they plan to do in Philadelphia, Houston, Baltimore and Detroit. ???

We do know in Boston that CBS owned WBZ-FM will clear Nanci and lose JT Brick who has a huge night following in Boston. However many of the Boston pundits think FOX Sports Radio will move to WXKS-AM 1200 (Clear Channel) who just pulled the plug on political talk 2 days ago. CBS however only owns one AM station in Boston (WBZ-1030) so CBS Sports will only be filler here.

"I wouldn't be surprised if CBS uses 660 as a clearing house for the CBS Sports Network while 102.7 maintains a local angle." That from a former CBS employee just a month ago.

FYI: Tony Paige has returned as of yesterday. Question: What's the deal with that "sex cauldron" bit that he always plays at the top of the 4 AM hour? How does it relate to sports? I don't get it...

Tony Paige said on the air at the start of the year he would be having surgery done. Hasn't been back yet, but someone informed me Tony is no longer on the WFAN website?

So much for that lol

Tony's page is still on the WFAN website: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/personality/tony-paige/

Tony had major shoulder surgery done just after New Year's and said before he left that he'd be off for at least a couple of weeks since his arm/shoulder would be virtually immobilized for at least a week before starting rehab.

He's scheduled back on the FAN on Tuesday morning 1/29/13 from 1-6am and is also scheduled to make his usual appearances on the following Wed. morning, Thu. morning, Sat. morning + Sat. evening/Sun. morning.
(From Tony's page linked above, scroll down to bottom of page to click on WFAN Shows - On-air schedule and Streaming schedule.)

Since he hasn't been on the schedule since around New Year's, that would explain why he's been missing from the schedule page, but not the entire WFAN website.

And Tony was back this morning as scheduled. (One of the few 'FAN hosts in the building this week with a large contingent on "Radio Row" for the Super Bowl...)
