Some thoughts about this.
First of all, Richard Sandomir's very first tweet which broke the news said "WFAN will move to FM 101.9 in mid-Nov. as per CBS station purchase. `FAN will stay at 660 AM until new format is chosen." (Emphasis mine). That makes me think he knows something that CBS didn't want out there yet.
Next, it makes no sense to think CBS Sports Radio network programming won't be cleared in New York. Clearing your programming in market #1 is the holy grail for networks.
Finally, it's interesting that the trades aren't making more about the ownership cap. Makes me think the deal is already in place for Cumulus to take over ownership of 660 and run the network programming on it, but the trade writers are embargoed from mentioning it yet. Remember, CBS Sports Radio is actually a collaboration between CBS and Cumulus, so if ownership of 660 transferred to Cumulus, CBS could still count on keeping their programming on it as a network provider and stay under the cap.
