WFAN To Hold Contest Awarding an Air Shift

The WFAN website mentions open auditions that will be given on Saturdays during the summer at various local locations. It states that the ultimate winner will be given an air shift on the station for a year. AllAccess says that Joe Benigno came to the attention of the station in a similar manner about 15 years ago.
Holding open auditions seems to be a worthwhile technique for generating publicity, and bringing in some fresh talent.

Or, as newspaper columnist Bob Raissman might call it: "The Valley of the Stupid in 3-D!"

This is a gimmick that WOR should use to find talent for its new country channel.

Since programming can't seem to pick talent themselves (Anita Marks, Evan Roberts, Mia Harris), maybe they can actually find the next inflated ego. Here's an idea, how about replacing the programming people there? Since they've let their best talent leave (Russo, Carlin etc) maybe they should leave as well?

Sorry, Lalumia, I don't think WFAN is planning to air a weekly magazine focusing on Cherry Vanilla and the New York Dolls...
