WFAN To Move From Queens To Manhattan Studios after 10/9/09

On the Joe Benigno/Evan Roberts midday show on Thu. 10/1/09 it was announced that their last show at the "FAN Cave" at the Kaufman Astoria Studios in Astoria, Queens would be on Fri. 10/9/09. Mike Francesa would later "wax poetic" (somewhat!) about his time at the WFAN studios since 1988-89. While noting the deterioration of their current location over the past 20+ years & the need for new facilities, Francesa also mentioned that they were currently in a place more historically suited for radio/TV broadcasting & were moving to a more "corporate/office" environment at the new Manhattan location at 345 Hudson Street. There was some consternation raised by Francesa, update man John Minko, producer Eddie Erickson & board operator Sal Licata about the move, regarding commuting time & costs, parking, etc.

Francesa's last show in Astoria (also simulcast/telecast on the YES Network) could be either Thu. 10/8/09 or Fri. 10/9/09, depending on the N.Y. Yankees baseball playoff schedule, for he will broadcast live from Yankee Stadium preceding Games 1 & 2 of the American League Division Series. Another possibility for Francesa's last show could be his Sunday morning 9am-Noon "NFL Now"/"Football Sunday" Show which is also simulcast on WFAN/YES Network.

The date & time of the actual switchover from one studio to another is unannounced; I'd assume sometime between Friday evening 10/9/09 & Monday morning 10/12/09.

I heard this too, especially Minko complaining about his new commute from NJ. I was thinking to myself, how can it be easier to drive all the way across town to Astoria from NJ than hop in the PATH the Hudson St.
