WFAS AM-An Alternative to NYC Talk Radio

WFAS 1230 AM in Hartsdale NY has returned to a full-time talk schedule, after several years.
They run what I believe to be a decent balance of local talk (during drive times), relatively moderate politics (Geraldo, John Bachelor), and financial/consumer advice (Clark Howard, Charles Massini).
Though their signal is only decent in the northern part of the New York Metro, perhaps this Cumulus talker could serve as an example of an alternative to the mostly right wing talk broadcast on WABC and 970 AM
I find it interesting that Cumulus recently undertook the effort to change WFAS AM from mostly music, to all talk.

It's all a matter of cost. It's cheaper to pay a satellite provider than music royalties (along with the associated bookkeeping, too).

Nice having local shows in the drive times..something WABC needs desperately. With Geraldo and Batchelor on WABC, I'm surprised a station so close to New York is running them.

WFAS also has someone in afternoon drive named Lisa Wexler - a local host... remember them?

Lisa Wexler is an attorney and a radio enthusiast who hosted an afternoon show on News/Talk WSTC/WNLK in Connecticut for about two years. My guess is she got the ball rolling at WFAS. When Cox pulled the plug on WSTC/WNLK, she apparently convinced WFAS to carry her show. Soon Clark Howard was added ... now more.

Wexler's show was an asset here in CT. She's interesting, entertaining, informed and opinionated but not a shill for either political party, nor is the show just about politics. I hope she and WFAS have a bright future. However, the "new" WFAS is very similar to the old WSTC/WNLK so I have to wonder, if Cox couldn't make it work how will Cumulus?

What's the point of running Geraldo on WFAS-AM???? At the same time it's on WABC??

Sure they're both Cumulus stations, but WABC doesn't have a signal problem around the Tappan Zee bridge.
