WFAS-FM moving to NYC

Are they're still going to stream via iHeartRadio? I hope that this Friday will be the last day of hosting DJ's on WFAS-FM beginning with Jolana Smith where she is doing her final morning show along with John Tesh, Hartman and Ron James. They're all going to do their final shows for WFAS-FM this coming Friday. This coming weekend will be automated by July 3rd. I hope iHeartRadio will be streaming WFAS-FM until the format flips on July 4th. Will keep you posted.

I just recorded airchecks from WFAS-FM from yesterday and the two from today just a week before the big announcement of the change is coming. I'll post it later on.
 
I already found an error on their new website. If you click on 'Contact' and then click on 'What Song Was That', there is a form that comes up and towards the bottom of the form it says "Would you like to receive exclusive information from NASH FM 94.7?"
 
The new call letters are "WNBM"

I dont know what the heck it's suppose to stand for. Ny's Best Music? I dont care. Tom Joyner and D.L Hughley and Eric Benet was at Sylvia's today. I was going to go but im on a diet

Joyner and Hughley do great radio. In fact, I'd have them replace the morning and night guys at NASH. Joyner & Hughley are more entertaining.

People who don't listen to Urban radio miss out on some great talent.
 
I wish that maybe tomorrow, WFAS-FM will do their final shows including Jolana Smith, Hartman and Ron James. All three DJ's will be doing their last shows on WFAS-FM a week before the flip except John Tesh will still doing his show on other AC or Hot AC station elsewhere, but not on WFAS-FM. I will keep you posted ASAP.

I'll get my tape recorders ready for the big day tomorrow will do their final shows on WFAS-FM.
 
@412Center, why would someone want to listen to a clone of of WBLS on a weaker signal? WBLS sounds lame and dusty. Listening to a scratchy version of that doesn't make any sense.

The problem with BLS is they have way too much DJ chatter and too many commercials. I listen to the Quiet Storm show regularly, but lately they have added annoying guest interviews into that show which usually makes me turn away.
 
And as you know, Tom Joyner will start his morning show on the new 103.9 starting July 7th. He is currently doing morning on WHQT's "Hot 105" out in South Florida. I wish he will do better with his new morning shift on the new 103.9. I listened to Tom a little bit on "Hot 105" and he sounds good, because I listened to it via TuneIn app. "Hot 105" is the South Florida's version of WBLS. I was vacationing in Florida since last year when I checked the station. I hope Tom Joyner will be the new 103.9. It is part of the syndicated deal where Tom Joyner is carried by so many urban stations elsewhere.
 
I'm recording Jolana Smith now on WFAS-FM. I don't know if this considers to be the final show on WFAS-FM. Will see. After that, Hartman and Ron James will also be doing their undecided final shows on WFAS-FM as I'm recording those two today.

Is this going to be the same sort of thing like they used to do with the former WQQQ's "Q103" in Sharron, CT before it flipped to WSHU's Public Radio with a boat load of NPR programming? Stay tuned.

The FCC exists partially to protect this band so that only commercial entities that have legally obtained a license can operate and broadcast within that band. These are not public frequencies that anyone can just pop up an antenna and start broadcasting, which is why pirate radio stations are illegal. Commercial radio stations are 92.1 to 107.9. The reserved or non-comm band is 87.9 to 91.9 (though only one Class D is licensed to 87.9 legally) and NO FMs are legally licensed to 87.7 FM.....that is not a FM broadcast frequency....(87.75 IS a TV analog aural freq used by stations to act like a FM station..but they have to have a video carrier as well...and all that will go away in 2015 anyway)
 
I've checked late last night that Ron James was doing his final show of WFAS-FM. That why he left for good. I don't know who is leaving the station as of now. Jolana Smith was considered to do her final morning show or not, don't know what she was doing. Hartman will also do his final show today from 3 PM until 8 PM. AND That's going to be it. The station will sign off as of July 3rd which will be the last day of WFAS-FM as an AC station. The station will return as of a July 4th at 1 PM as an urban AC. I will record those soon along with the launch of "Radio 103.9" and the first day of the station. Stay tuned.
 
Wow, the Radio 1039 website even has the countdown clock wrong. If you look at the countdown it would lead you to a 1AM start time on Friday.
 
I've just finished recording Hartman's show yesterday, and right towards the end, he will do his last show tomorrow after at 3 PM. And that means, Jolana Smith and Hartman will both do their final shows tomorrow on WFAS-FM. I will record it as well. And Tuesday, everything will be automated until Thursday including the final sign-off at 11:59 PM on July 3rd. The station will be launch on July 4th at 1 PM as "Radio 103.9" I will prepared to record it. Stay tuned.

Z100's COL is still Newark. They did have their studios in Jersey City until several years ago.

WFAS is a different situation though as it involves physically moving their transmitter out of Westchester and into the Bronx. Even though Z100's COL is Newark, they have always been transmitting from Empire.
 
As you have probably heard that Hartman is leaving WFAS-FM big time. He has been on that station since 2010 and that was four years that he did afternoon drive. I've just finished listening to his final show on WFAS-FM and he gave thanks to the listeners and the air staff that they worked for that station and he played the final song for which is the album version of "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Gloria Gaynor, but not the 45 RPM edited version. What a way to see it go.

I also finished recording the last Hartman show on WFAS-FM as of now, and I will be posting it soon.
