Maybe it’s me but I’ve tried to listening a few times now and having them on in the afternoons just isn’t vibing. The high energy from their Hot 98.1 days is diminished with slower songs clogging up afternoons. Yikes. Dex sounding tired himself didn’t help either.
Yeah, this is rough. I’ve listened a few times and it’s kinda boring and also, as you said, the music is pretty bad. That’s not necessarily on WFBC, but more of a reflection of the CHR format the past few years. In the late 2010s, when Hot 98.1 was almost leaning in to mainstream CHR and there were a lot of good hits, their show was on fire and I listened almost every morning.
I don’t really see this helping WFBC. I know Cox probably never would have consented as it would have messed with their localization at WAPE, but a better option would have been to simulcast the show on both stations in mornings and put Hawk and Tom out to pasture.
