WFBD-DT Channel 48 Destin

I see that this new TV station applied for a license to cover last month. It appears to me that they are going strait to DT instead of putting up an analog transmitter. They are apparently using the old WTKE 98.1 tower in northern Okaloosa county.
Does anyone know anything about this station?
Do DT only stations get "must carry" status on cable?

No, they built a new tower NEAR the old 98.1 tower (slightly north)

What a waste.... there was an abandon tall tower in the area and they didn't use it?
According to posts over the past couple of months over at AVS forums, this station is on the air and broadcasting lots of infomercials and possibly the UATV network. Doesn't a DT only station get must carry status just like analog stations? As far as I can tell no cable systems in North West Florida are carrying this station.

Also, isn't Destin in the Panama City TV market, yet this station is targeting the Pensacola-Mobile market..

Not a waste....the POS (aka piece of s...t) tower that the cheap bunch in Andalusia put up years ago when 98.1 went on the air would not hold the TV antenna and feedline according to today's tower wind loading standards.

The only thing left on that tower is Southern Linc. They have cell site antennas at the 600 ft level on the tower

Yes.

However, cable systems have some time to begin carrying.
