WFCJ now "song tagging"

Song tagging comes to Southwest Ohio from an unlikely source, religious WFCJ. If you haven't heard this done, it involves a female voice run through something that makes it sound like a synthesizer voice back announcing songs. No matter what station or format, it is always this same female voice. WFCJ is doing this during it's soft Contemp Christian/Praise and worship music blocks. I understand why it's done, but I'd think the somewhat upper demo audiecne that WFCJ caters to would find the auto-voice pretty annoying.

I want to hear her on a rap station..."that was snoop dogg with she's my mo-fo-ho"...and yes, I just demonstrated that I am rap-illiterate.

^^
LOL

The AC station here in Jackson, MS does this, though they also use a male voice on some songs. I also heard an AC in South Carolina use song-tagging too. I believe this will be a growing trend and mainly AC and hot AC stations will do it.

I don't understand why it has to be the same robotic, sounds like she's on the telephone robotic voice in every market and every format (especially soft religious music like WFCJ).

Her robotic highness is also on WBEB/Philly...the #1 station in the market. Whoever she is, I bet she's a rich mamma jamma...

The male voice I referred to doesn't sound so robotic. You can listen at mix987.com to hear his voice. They play John Tesh from 7p-midnight, so you won't hear it then.

I can see the ad on R-I "at gr8oldies productions, we've got your monotone. Choose from 3 flavors"
Sound like what I saw written on a car for sale 20 year ago : One Of A Kind! Only 2 Left!

I am listening to their overnight music.. she don't sound too bad with the P&W music. Their website lists "word in praise" overnights which is Salem's worship 24/7 worship format from satellite... so this looks like something Salem is doing with the syndicated "The Word in Praise" 24/7 music format. I checked out another "Word In Praise affilliate" I found online in Hampton Roads (WWIP FM 89.1) they run the same satellite music format and the lady is there backselling the tracks.

Is WEEC doing the same thing? Both stations joined forces recently under the umbrella of Strong Tower Christian Media.

Since both stations historically has had volunteer on-air announcers, I can't see why this isbeing done. I'm a bit disappointed over this move.

I do not beleive its being done locally but on the syndicated "word in praise" format that WFCJ uses for the praise music blocks... so WEEC is not doing the same thing as WEEC does not air that programming.

Makes sense now as Salem song tags Cleveland's Fish with the same voice...they started when they eliminated midday and evening shifts. Does anyonhe know if this is a satellite delivered format or automated locally? I did hear someone do the weather with current temp. Clair has been reluctant to leave the station unmanned from what I am told..course I don't know who this new ownership group is.

Kinda thought maybe they'd take WFCJ more music and let WEEC do the talk/teaching but WFCJ is still blazin' fire and brimstone quite a bit, along with political talk for an hour.

The music is satellite delivered it's one of salem's 24/7 music formats (The Word In Priase that WFCJ has)... Salem also has two other 24/7 music formats, Solid Gospel (wihch is southern gospel and you can hear locally on daytimer WGNZ 1110AM) and they have a Christian AC format called "Today's Christian Music" Each of these formats are delivered via Satellite with local inserts avail for commericals, underwriting, weather etc.

What you hear on Salem's Fish in Cleveland in the day parts they removed local talent is 'Today's Christian Music' which is salem's 24/7 music format like the word in praise you hear on WFCJ... this is fed via satellite (with the abilities to have local inserts)

Today's Christian Music also uses the female voice to back sell the songs.

Interesting. I'd have though the Fish just had local automation rolling with the song tags. I wasn't aware it was a national feed.

Appears a few of the "Fish" stations Salem owns is running the Today's Christian Music Feed from Nashville in the day parts they don't run local:

I just checked and the song playing on The fish 95.5 is the same one on the Nashville station (where TCM is uplinked).

And yes they are back selling with the female voice even though they have a voicetracked DJ on the TCM feed right now they have the "computer generated" back sell then a local image id and then the voicetrack dj talks into the next song.
