WFEC AM Boss Jocks

Back in the 60's and early 70's WFEC 1400 was home for the boss jocks. I (Kevin J Molloy) worked as News Director ( 20-20 News) and played the hits :D on weekends. I used to do record hops at the old MCSO club New Cumberland Army Depot, Progress Fire Company a Lutheran Church on Wertzville Road and other places. Bob Janis, Ronnie G Shaeffer, Curt Whitecom, JJ Morgan, Ken Matz, Breck Ardery (?) Carol Kuehn and Bob Morgan were some of the other folks.

Carol Kuehn retired from Pa Emergency Management and lives in Florida, Ken Matz did some TV stuff around the country and is retired. Bob Yanich is still a Distrcit Jutice, Ronnie G Shaeffer did a bunch of different things after he left FEC. Breck went on to ABC radio in NY I think.

Those were fun days!!

Hey Kevin J! It's good to hear from one of the Big 14 Boss Jocks. I remember you well. Weren't you briefly on WAHT 1510 before WFEC? I think Bob Janis has retired from his District Justice gig. And isn't Jim Madison now doing weather on a TV station in Tucson or Phoenix? Jimmy Edwards went to Norfolk and recently passed away. I always liked Jim Henry at night. He had a definite liking for the rockier stuff. I think someone told me Ronnie G is a financial advisor of some sort. There were a lot of people who passed through the basement of the Blackstone Building during that time but those are the ones I remember most. We'd love to hear anything you can post about those days.

I would love to know where Ronnie G. Shaeffer is these days. He was a great friend of mine for so many years, and I would love to catch up with him. If anyone knows how to contact him, post here and I'll give you an email address where you can send me details.

How about a guy by the name of Tony Montgomery? Anyone have any photos of FEC to post?

Isn't this the same Ken Matz that used to do the news on WMAR-TV in Baltimore?

Bob Morgan gave me my first job in radio at WKBO. The last time I heard from him he was doing mortgages. He's a good guy.

Sorry Pasty, but the Bob Morgan of WFEC Boss Jock days in the late 60s is not the same Bob Morgan of WKBO, KOOL, et cetera. Gee, it's such a "unique" name, who'da thunk there could be two Bob Morgans! :D

I did not know that (In my best Johnny Carson voice)!

Bob (the WKBO onw) and I both worked for Carl Kuehn at WWII. I thought there was only one. Thanks for bringing me up to speed! :)

Hi folks, It's nice to remember the good times in Harrisburg! Always had the best listeners in the world along with some super personalities on WFEC. I still have an extremely busy life and after a long hiatus and promise never to broadcast again, I broke one of the few promises in my life. I returned to internet radio last year and am currently doing a Friday, Saturday and Sunday show. If you get an opportunity, check it out, "The Ronnie G Shaeffer Radio Program", R 'n B, R 'n R, and a lot of great Street Corner Harmony. doowopcafe.net I surly would love to hear from you. And thanks for remembering.

Ronnie G! Check your radio-info Inbox. Ignore my screen name... you'll know who I am when you open your mail. Sooooo good to see you here!
:)

Sorry about the passing of Bob Janis ( Bob Yanich)..tough to work for but overall good guy. To John SUmmers yes I did work for a bit at WAHT when it first came on the air. Currently work for US HOmeland Secuirty, live in Lower Paxton Twp and work at the National Tng Center in Emmitsburg MD

Bob passed away back in April. Found an obit on PENNLIVE that stated he was program director for WSBA from 1958 to 1968. I do remember him being a part of the good guy line-up in afternoon drive in the mid 60's, before Dan Donovan arrived. Anyone have a better time line on this. I don't recall the timeline on WSBA program directors before 1971 or so. Any historians out there. I know he was at WFEC around 1968 after Lucky Pierre left. He started their Drake-like format. During this era of top 40 radio, many jocks were "yuckers" and "screamers". Bob always had a smooth professional delivery.

I remember Mike Patrick and Lucky Pierre. They used to do lve remotes at the farm show in the late '60's into the early 70's. I worked at WFEC when it was country for s short while in '77. Barry Mardit was the PD then. He went onto WEEP-AM in Pittsburgh i think in 78 or 79.

Bob Janis (Yanick) passed away in April 2009

When WFEC came on the ai, r summer of 1963, who was the newsman---I think his first name was Glen and I believe he was from New Orleans---that was with WFEC for a year or so and had a very biting or sarcastic delivery---the full time jocks at that time were Buddy Carr, Bob Robin, John Barger, Buzz A lLong and Bert Sherwood---anyone remember this newsman's name?

thanks
