WFEC Jocks --1960's (Harrisburg,Pa.)

John Summers or anyone------know what happened to WFEC top40 jock named ------ Gabriel? didn't he sometimes say Ron Gabriel? How about Kevin J. Molloy, JJ Morgan and Steve Miller? WFEC jock Ken Matz is retired in Florida. after WFEC he was a tv news anchor in Baltimore and Philly. also did news on WIBG. former WFEC jock Breck Ardery I think is the voice of america news anchor at the U.N. in NYC. (that's shortwave radio!) Breck had been an ABC net anchor. (ABC FM news)

I know former WFEC PD/jock Bob Janis is now a district justice. A friend of mine got a speeding ticket and had to appear before Bob. if anyone knows about the other former WFEC jocks let me know. (see prior message) and--- thanks to all!

Actually, Gabriel's first name was Pete, though he always went by Gabriel in Harrisburg, first on WCMB, then on WFEC. He was the big-voiced "Jolly Giant" who, according to his profile on one of my WFEC music surveys, was "busy keeping the housewives entertained." Boy, does that sound like ancient history! He later went to Susquehanna's WARM in Scranton, and for many years was PD and morning man on WKBN in Youngstown Ohio. He was there up until a few years ago. I met him once when a friend of mine and I stopped in at WFEC when we were about 13 or 14. He gave us a tour of the place, such as it was, and was very friendly.

Bob Janis, on the other hand, was never known to be very friendly. I met him once at some sort of business function and he was distinctly rude, something many other people have since told me was the norm. He was News Director of Channel 27 at the time. I pity your friend with the traffic ticket. He probably got 10 to life! I think he is retired from his District Justice gig now.

Kevin J. Malloy was WFEC's News Director but also jocked on weekends. He became some sort of emergency communications coordinator for Cumberland County but I haven't heard of him in 25 years.

I recall JJ Morgan as one of their several 8-midnight jocks in the Scott era. Liked him. Don't know whatever happened to him.

Steve Miller was there also in the Scott era and I believe he went to WLPL in Baltimore after that. From there, who knows.

This is Kevin J Molloy, I was News Diector at WFEC and also did weekends as a boss jock. I did record hops at New Cumberland Army Depot, Progress Fire Company and other places. I currently work of the US Department of Homeland Security. Bob Janis (Yanich) is still a District Justice, Carl Kuehn who was a jock livesd in Florida, retired from the State of PA. I used to hear Robert Morgan on an FM station in Lancaster county somewhere. When Three Miles Island happened, I was the COunty Civil Defense Director. Ken Matz worked for a TV station in Indiana I believe and he came in an inteviewed me.

Hi Guys, Had a blast reading the old posts about WFEC. I worked there in 1966 before I left for the navy. ( I was 17 years old) . Breck Ardery (SP) trained me for the sunday morning church show. Lucky Pierre was my manager. Once in a while, I ran the all night show (250 Watts??). If Pete G didn't show up at noon, I would start his show. Anyway, I have restored two complete hours of the Tony Montgomery show from sunday January 1968. I also have a very bad skim tape from that era of many DJs. I would love to have more audio from that time...maybe a tape of me????.You are welcome to the audio I have. Contact me at [email protected] for more info

I’d listen to them in the mid 70s. Pete McShane, Jack Malloy , Steve Bradley, a few others I can’t recall . I have a whole cassette of the Modern Country format they were doing .
