WFED 1500 With Music Saturday Afternoons

I figure maybe to save an afternoon East Coast DXer or two some time who might be intrigued by hearing Jazz and American Standards on 1500 some Saturday afternoon near the start of sunset propogation.

It's likely just WFED 1500, Washington, the former WTOP.

Yesterday/Saturday they had me for a half an hour on the NE PA radio ; a signal that had loud peaks of lucidity and plunging but swift fades ; a time span that would be a waste except for the music. There were frequent mentions of George Washington University and St. John The Divine Church. The 'GWU' should have given it away, but I sat through anyway, on the off-chance that there was another school with the same name.

The show, 'American Jazz', isn't listed on their web site.

Just so you know, hi.

One other possible 'fake-out!' :

Oddly, just two frequencies down on 1490 was the Rays-Orioles game. That was WAZL Hazleton. It was odd hearing a spot for Hillsborough Community College. Someone mentioned that WAZL carries the Rays games because manager Joe Maddon is from Hazleton.

You're hearing WFED. The station does play the kind of music you described on certain times on weekends. Right now it's airing a baseball game. These shows are not shown on their website, for some reason, I don't know.
