With WFNX set to become WHBA at midnight with a new format what become of the NH simulcast at 92.1 as it's not part of the deal with CC

From a check of the FCC's site, the WDER-FM callsign has been reserved, the sale has cleared, and now WFEX is off-the-air. So my guess would be: very soon.
 
Actually, from Blount's perspective...92.1 Peterborough makes sense since 760 Worcester WVNE being a daytimer, maybe some Northern Worcester County listeners of that format can now hear 92.1 after dark....
 
WFEX is still off as of 9:30AM, and I am receiving WXEX 92.1 in Merrimack NH. Mindich is done with 92.1 and turned the lights off. My guess is WFEX will be off the air for awhile until Blount gets the STL set up.
 
Wonder why Clear Channel didn't just go ahead and grab WFEX as part of the deal. They could have used it to simulcast WGIR AM (or something else).
 
That's a very good question. They could have bought it for cheap. Maybe CC made an offer and Blount made a better one.
 
It's interesting how much overlap there is in coverage areas for both WFEX and WXEX, especially when one is off. Last year WXEX was off due to a storm, and from where I live in Dover NH I could get WFEX with a good signal.
 
When Phoenix Media owned WPHX and WFEX, could they have created one Class B 92.1 in between the two that covered the same footprint as the two individual signals?

Cool idea, but first you would have had to remove the 92.1 allocations from Sanford and Peterborough and replace them with something else since you cannot take away local service. Then you would have had to get an allocation for say Exeter or Epping NH for a new 92.1 class B, and then you would probably have problems with 92.3 Providence and 92.5 Haverhill/Andover and a bunch of other issues best answered by the engineers and lawyers.

And yes, as of 7/25 @ 8:30pm, the new WDER-FM is silent. This might be a good time to go up to Pack Monadnock and do some FM DXing....
