A few questions about WFEZ (92.1 Williston)

Why the change from 92.1 to 101.3?

Where was the WFEZ studio?

Could 92.1 ever come back on the air from somewhere in NCFL or is that out of the question now because of WJXR?
 
That came to be after WFEZ became silent I walked the property with a future buyer before it became dark due to Regan Smith I convince the future buyer 101.3 would be a better clearer signal and I knew 101.3 would fit I also suggested the urban format due to WJHM at the time being a consistent number two in the ratings the guys name was Negron from Atlanta he owned it real breifly the station did come back on 101.3 after it went dark we were churban at the time WFEZ 92.1 was actually making money at the time but Regan drained our bank account because station was tax right off he did this at 92.7 in Green Cove we won a small lawsuit it came back on as urban through a phone line before Pamal bought it, It is Pamals top biller its funny I work for Pamal's WRZN 720 part time for 10 years nows 92.1 will not work because WJXR upgraded to C3.....
 
Actually the studio was located at tower site between Williston and Bronson in a older mobile home

A tad off-topic here, but Tony, have you ever heard of punctuation? Are you a budding "stream-of-consciousness" author? I'm out of breath from just trying to read this.

Oh, wait one second. It turns out there IS a comma in there. It's in a place where a period should be, but at least it's there.

I can answer your questions for you as I was vice president and general manager of WFEZ in the late '80s, but first let me give you a brief station history.

When I arrived at WFEZ, after serving as GSM for a major Jacksonville FM, the station was struggling with its second incarnation of country after programming beautiful music for about two and half years as WLLO "Willow 92" and later WFEZ "EZ 92". Originally the 92.1 frequency was country as WJRQ "Country 92".

I had determined that country was not going to get the desired ratings and revenue results since two other higher powered in-market FMs had flipped to country since the original WJRQ had dropped country in favor of beautiful music. My staff and I immediately flipped WFEZ to a hybrid adult contemporary/CHR combination. We played strictly adult contemporary weekdays from 6AM - 7PM, going full hard core CHR at night and all weekend, known as "FM 92.1". My program director and midday on-air personality, Tony Downes, later convinced me we should go to a full-time CHR format with an urban lean. We tweeked it into a hybrid CHurban format taking on the moniker "Hot 92.1", resulting in a tremendous ratings improvement and revenue gain.

Due to the ratings and revenue gain, we looked into a possible power increase. And it was determined we could get a slight power increase by moving frequency to 101.3. This allowed us to gain coverage while also allowing WJXR McClenney to upgrade to a class C3. Our studio, at the time, was located at the transmitter site, literally in a cow pasture, near Bronson. The studio was later moved to downtown Gainesville.

Regarding the 92.1 frequency, that channel cannot return to the air in Central Florida due to new stations such as WHGN 91.9 C2 Crystal River and the higher powered WJXR McClenney.
