I recently came back from a trip to Quebec, where I viewed WFFF, Burlington's Fox affiliate, on Videotron in Montreal and Quebec City, and on Cogeco in Trois-Rivieres. On all three systems, I noticed that they were picking up WFFF's high-def feed, downconverting it to analog and, believe it or not, chopping off the sides of the wide screen (as opposed to adding to and bottom bars to the screen or even squeezing the picture). This is noticable during Fox programming, where there is no network bug (other than during American Idol); and during the news, where the text on the sides of the screen is cut off, and you can barely see the "44" in the "Fox 44" logo.
I take it that all of the station's local output is widescreen only, as well as Fox's programming offered in widescreen (normally with bars for analog viewers).
For those watching WFFF on Comcast, Charter and Time Warner in its home market -- how are they treating WFFF?
