WFGW question

My understanding is a "YES" to both questions. The Ingles grocery store chain identified the WFGW transmitter site as prime land on which to build a warehouse, so they financed the engineering studies necessary to apply for the changes, and supposedly are contributing toward facility construction.

The new facility shares tower space with the Black Mountain station on 1350. I'm not sure if the move is completed, but when it becomes licensed and operational, BGEA will sell the old site to Ingles. It works as a plus-plus for all involved. What Ingles spends to move WFGW is tax-deductible, and BGEA gets rid of a large chunk of its maintenance expenses. The only downside is that nighttime signal on WFGW goes from barely listenable to flea-power.

Later . . . .

And BGEA picks up a big chunk of cash for the property. I hate to see the studio gone that was really a show place.

The studio is officially gone. I kind of grew up in that place, going to work there at 18 and staying 17 years. It hurts to drive by and see the studio gone, but it does make financial sense for them to sell it and broadcast WMIT and WFGW from the Cove.

Not really too sure anymore how much it matters how listenable WFGW is, day or night. It is a lot of second-tier Salem stuff, some of the speakers you can still hear on WMIT, and Dave Ramsey. Ramsey is the only thing I tune in for, and only if I happen to be in Asheville.
