WFLA ON-AIR are the next unemployed

The latest gossip in the kitchen area is .... Morning Show On-Air talent being on the list getting a pink slip in January along with 30+ other people. Nobody is safe nowadays.

How sad and frightening.

i usually don't post here because I don't ever listen to them---------but, what do they do instead? CNN?

Is it as easy to replace news people as DJ's. Is there a news version of Tesh and Tom kent?

"The latest gossip in the kitchen area is ...." Gee, somehow gossip is read as fact. Remember, the poster said GOSSIP!

"Nobody is safe nowadays". Yup, and that includes management too. Don't think the bean counters ignore some of the employees. NOBODY is exempt.

That said-- it would benefit you to refresh that resume. Even if you don't need it now, you may in a few years. Be a boy scout... be prepared! ;)

That's your loss. Talent, especially local talent, at many medium and major market talk station have been good, as good as if not better than record-spinners at boring FM.

These hosts, like the one in the movie, "Talk Radio" know how to engage an audience with or without guests and with or without calls.

If there were more stations that weren't totally syndicated outside of a.m. drive, like WFLA, there would be more on-air opportunities. Believe me as a listener, Glen Beck, Boortz, Hannity, et. al. just can't cut it when it comes to compelling radio. They're all-politics, all the time, especially that Hannity pinhead.

Unfortunately, because radio's owners see anyone behind a microphone - music or talk - as a drag on their profits, there are far too few great local hosts around.

Let's hope this rumor remains just that-- a rumor. I can't see WFLA putting anything in place that would be comparable to Jack and Tedd. They have been at 970 forever! :)

NOBODY SAID THAT TEDD WEBB is leaving. I heard it thru the grape vine that the one leaving with a pink slip is Jack Harris. Sharon Taylor and Tedd Webb are safe.

"Teddy" and I are both about to hit the big 6-oh and I feel that we're both at the top our games. Let some double-chinned jerk in an Ivory tower do his best to "cut costs" .He'llonly be absolutley eviserating his own private parts, both professionally as well as physically.
