WFLA's election coverage

"People watching" in the Clear Channel employee break room was certainly...entertaining...on Tuesday night, as Obama's victory became more and more obvious, Todd Schnitt and Mark Larsen's trips to the coffee machine became more and more agitated.

The morning shift was even better: to call Ted Webb "stone faced" with grief would have been an understatement.

I dont know Mark, but the Schnitt revelation is not suprising to me. But the idea that Tedd would be grieved by the President's victory is hard for me to buy, knowing him as I do. Tedd is a performer. He does a show. He doesn't drink the conservative cool aide when the mic light is off. But, I guess you'd have to know him to get that.

Sorry, but for me anyway, WFLA has become very UN important over the years... AM Tampa bay is a poor memory of what it USED to be, especially with Jack interrupting everyone ALL the time seemingly...At first I thought I would miss it when I didn't have to get up early, but frankly I do not miss them a bit... and I still get my news and information only from other, faster sources... Schnitt just seems to combine all other conservative bandwagons for his show.. and he too doesn't allow too much input other than his own... The rest of the day is all sat. feeds from somewhere else... I REALLY miss the days of the Early Glenn Beck (when he used to have a sense of humor and wasn't so serious all the time) Mark (The Sky Is Falling) Larson and of course, the Mad Dog, Bob Lassiter...I know we can never go back... but our choices are really pathetic as compared to days gone by...

AM Tampa might be the worst show I've heard in my life. It's terrible.

Schnitt is ok but I don't think he has enough talent or knowledge to carry an interesting three-hour show. But Schnitt really should try to get a NYC affiliate because I think he'd do well there. I'm from Queens and it seems like there's a big Jewish male middle-class audience who like Savage and Levin and would welcome Schnitt.

Yesterday on his radio show, Todd Schnitt suggested that if Holly Petraeus took better care of herself and made herself more attractive then perhaps her husband would not have strayed. My thoughts? Todd, in my opinion... You are an ass clown.

Again, as referenced above, it's a performance...schtick.

Remember when Tedd threatened to punch out Ron Reagan Jr.?

Schnitts days not long ago as a Britney Spears hugging/TMZ obsessed top 40 jock?

Rush Limbaugh appearing as himself as a guest on Family Guy?

They're just going for an audience that will get them the bigger paycheck.

Who knows what their beliefs really are when the mic is off?

And who really cares?

Those ARE their beliefs. You can NOT do a 3-hour talk show, 5 days a week, for years, and be making it up. Nobody would remember their own lies for that long. Your last sentence makes no sense.

And Tedd did not threaten Ron Jr. Tedd was expressing his desire to "kick his ass" over his disrespect for his father, and the respect Tedd had for Ronald Reagan.

P.S. Ron jr. was proud Tedd was defending his father with that much passion (in addition was egging Tedd on off-mic).

Actually, liberals have posed as conservatives on radio for years. One did it in Seattle for a decade. When asked about their previous beliefs, they claim to have had a life-changing moment that altered their worldview. (In real life, that life changing event was usually the program director telling them they had to change their act to fit in, in the Limbaugh era.) In the days of local talk radio, host changed positions from city to city the way wrestlers went from "face" to "heel" and back. Would you believe that former WFLA host Jay Marvin went on the air as a conservative in Milwaukee? Because management told him to.

I've never heard Schnitt but seeing a picture of Holly I had a similar thought.

Now that is funny! I can't lie. I thought the mistress hotter than the madam too.

I withdraw the Webb/Reagan comment. And Marvin DID have a turn as a Conservative, which in Wisconsin doesn't always play well (cough) Paul Ryan (cough).

I stand by remarks about Limbaugh. "Family Guy" can be remarkably funny and twice as offensive, and many of us will burn in hell for watching some of it. Seth MacFarlane and company put everyone through the grinder, but it cuts deep to the bone of the right, including multiple scathing insults to God, Jesus and all things Christian. (Though I don't believe he's taken on Mohammed, but the season isn't over yet.)

Do you sit there and honestly want me to believe that a 24/7 right wing, God fearing Christian Conservative would not only make a cameo appearance on the show, but have an entire episode devoted to him?

Liberals don't understand humor. Conservatives do.

I would say few liberals understand humor. Normal Lear understood humor perfectly. And despite his own leanings, equally saw to the proper simultaneous exaltation and derision of both sides. Seth MacFarlane follows his footsteps pretty well.

Their material worked/works because it is ultimately intended to be funny. Other left-leaning so-called "comedians" are more intent on sniping at conservatives. This results in nasty and unimaginative banter.

A great example: One of Limbaugh's early appearances on "Family Guy" was during one of the Star Wars parodies, where his voice is heard on the radio complaining about Global Warming theories on the ice planet of Hoth. That was funny. Much funnier than Al Franken calling Limbaugh a fat idiot.

On an unrelated note: What's a "humorist?" It's a comedian appearing on NPR.

I agree. Glenn Beck was a lot better when he was a raging drunk...

And Lassiter and Lionel and the others. 970 is absolute junk now

The guy is a clown. He has zero credibility in the political talk world. I guess it's cheap filler for 970 / cc
