WFLD Channel 32 (FOX) To Add 10pm news

Channel 32 will add a new 1/2 hour newscast at 10pm starting this Monday. "The Simpsons" moves to 10:35pm.

...You mean they didn't have one LIKE EVERY OTHER FOX STATION IN AMERICA???????

Quick, someone call WWJ TV!
I know, diff market...

Since Fox doesn't program network shows form 10pm-11pm (or 9pm-10pm central and mountain) most Fox stations that have news run the news then. They do not compete with the ABC, NBC or CBS who run it at 11pm(10pm).

Fox has just started having it's O&O go head to head with the Big Three nightly newscasts.

This gives FOX Chicago 90 minutes of news at night Monday through Friday.

It was 9-10 pm before - 1 hour before the late local news on the big 3 network stations. Now, the 9:00 newscast is followed by a 10-10:30 edition.

It's Central time, you know.

It's a waste of talent, resources, and money if you ask me. Trying to break into the 10-10:35 against ABC, NBC, and CBS seems really stupid.

I stand corrected......

Q. What surprised you most about "The Ten," the new late newscast on Fox?
A. On just its second night on the air, the 10 p.m. news on WFLD-Channel 32 beat CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2 in the ratings. Now that's amazing!

Not that surprising, really. 'BBM has been struggling for years. They are getting ready for a big re-vamp though with new streetside studios. When they do, ABC7, NBC5, and CBS2 will all have streetsides. I believe that will be a first for a local market, if I'm not mistaken.
