WFLF Jammer back up W233BH

94.5 W233BH is back up and running in FWB. Signal is weak but audible. Sorry but..your already being over powered by WFLF, How about get some common sense and apply for a CP to move to an unused frequency. They have a website but it's not up yet. Anyone know where their transmitter is?

Just a heads up... I know people have been hearing WFLF in P'COLA so.. time to get out of 94.5, whoever the new owner is (despite I love the shows)

-Rob

Hey Rob, could you fill us in on the lineup is for 94.5 in FWB? I think you're the only poster on this board that has any chance of picking up W233BH.

The 94.5 W233BH transmitter should be on Hollywood Blvd. with all the other stations, probably on the same tower The Ticket uses. Look it up on FCC.gov.

After cceng took care of WPAP's "jammer" on PC Beach, I'm surprised he hasn't taken a trip over to FWB to use the W233BH antenna for target practice. ;D He must have something fun planned for 94.5's future that he can't discuss yet...

Question for you - what are these three transmitters I see next to the FEDEX place in Mary Esther? I thought that's where the transmitter was. I HOPE the owner knows about WFLF and a thing called PROPAGATION

-rob

poledo...unfortunately, W233BH is legal.....if it weren't, I would have already taken action of some kind. It is simply an FM translator that is now carrying the programming of an AM station....the FCC is now allowing AM stations to own translators and put their programming on them (simulcast...NOT separate programming) to give the AM station some kind of parity with the FM stations they are competeing against.

I'll do my best - guess what's coming in now.. HAAA sucks to have a high powered talk station on 94.5 doesn't it? I know overnight it's now the TRUCKERS RADIO NETWORK or the TRUCK RADIO NETWORK or something like that 1.400 doesn't come in here at all. I heard they will have a website but I forgot the URL.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WFDM_(AM) time to update the WIKI, too...

well quite honestly Rob, FWB/Destin is out of our coverage area.....but it would be nice to have some of those people listening to 94.5......you can't cover the whole panhandle with one station....after all Rob not everyone has super duper receivers and antennas like you do.....many are cheap radios with poor sensitivity and selectivity and nothing but the AC cord for an antenna.

cceng,
Yeah, I know the station is legal. I'm in Pensacola, so your bosses don't make any money when I listen to WFLF. I really don't have a dog in this fight... but if Rob and a few of his buddies put their complaints in writing to the FCC and/or CC Panama City, wouldn't that give you the ammunition needed to solve this problem? I never said you would be using your 30-30 for target practice on W223BH. You're creative enough to solve this problem for your listeners in Destin and along 30A... and you gotta help out Rob! Navarre is the armpit of the Redneck Riviera. He needs your help.

Honestly, why would someone do this? and which part of the FCC do I write to (I don't trust emails but they can be effective - yes, I can fax and postal.) This sorta reminds me of the FireDrake jammer on shortwave. (Chinese jammer blocking VOA and other radio stations)

(yes, I have two SW radios here)

Would it be possible for CC to purchase W262BL? Max it out with 200+ watts on the tallest tower available and translate WRKH HD-2?
It's not that I like translators clogging up the dial, but it seems legal and... an eye for an eye...

(Zach, if you read this post, thanks for bringing W262BL to my attention!)

96.1 isn't sending an HD signal - got my sony and now listening to 99.3 and it's 5:3 but very clear. I love the RDS info though 99.3 the beat.

Moved the antenna - there it is!

-Rob

Rob, I was listening to WNTM on 96.1 HD-2 driving around all morning. I know I was because the signal dropped out about once every 2 minutes, just like it always does here in town.

I never knew how touchy HD was, I can get the HD on 96 but not on 99. I also heard 103.7 the fox and 105.7 playing rap fading in and out.

Rob, I am proud that that maverick, pirate-type guy, 0. Ron Hale, is taking that CC powerhouse on and thank the FCC for the gift of this little blocker. Its about time an engineer (with a conductors cap) gets stop from pushing the limits of his overwhelming signal. I can't wait to see the ratings that this station will have. I wonder if there are any extra strobeys in honor of this tower.

OK after doing some tweaking - I got

88.1 HD
92.9 HD
96.1 HD
100.7
101.5 (weak digital signal but strong analog signal)
104.1 HD
and on occasion 107.3 HD

guess what my RDS says on 94.5..you guessed it WFLF.. heeeee

You must not be reading any of my posts on HD radio!

Remember, those HD signals are only 1000 watts (not a typo, 1kw). That's less power than they pump into the tower strobies!

If you add a HD car radio to your collection, make sure it has the option to turn OFF HD.. just like an ol' stereo/mono button. HD is so "touchy" that I have never been able to lock on to 107.3 HD (the weakest local HD signal) in a moving car... and I'm 30-50 miles closer to the towers than you are.

Hopefully Rob will stop complaining about WAAZ's stereo signal now that he has 8 new HD signals to worry about. ::)

Here's something interesting - my radio was picking up static on 104.1 yet it locked on to the HD signal no problem - 1,000 watts? no wonder!

Why so little? Do they think flat land + 1,000 watts = a more localized signal? I thought I heard GA last night 104.9 THE FOX. I think it could be Louisiana. Right now, its struggling to pick up 99.9's HD signal. The analog is loud and clear.

Nope- please shoot me the threads and I'll check them out. I heard AAZ will be going full stereo soon too. Can't wait to hear the full fidelity of their music.

-Rob

For now 1000 watts is the FCC max for FM HD radio nationwide. I guess it's 500 watts in New York and California, but I don't really know.

Damn you, FCC - well, I can pick up IBOCs from Alabama and here. I'm in SHOCK that the panama city NPRs are not in IBOC.
