They now play hip hop and 90's and still play the bands like Nickeback and Daughtry. They got rid of the 80's.

Probably a good move for them. There isn't a CHR that comes in reasonably well in Richmond now since Z-93 flipped.

The only one that could have been heard was Kiss 107 in Cincinnati, and that was only if you had a really good radio.

Sorry to read your remarks about the format change, Randy. It's only radio.....and as what's been said before, another station's flip left a void that G-101.3 decided to fill.

As far as your remarks about Rick Duncan, well, I guess it must be something personal. (did you ever work at WIFE or WKWH?) I can understand why you might feel that way. I've been fired from a few radio jobs in my life, or left radio jobs under very unhappy circumstances.

Had to run to Tiffin, Ohio a few weeks back and we took the Indy-Dayton route and I loved the new sound and the midday gal was very good for Richmond, in my 30 year plus opinion...

I can understand why they decided to change. It's not a dramatic change by industry standards, but for them it's probably a good move. As far as Rick Duncan is concerned, I too once worked under his helm. He was a prick. But looking back at it now, I understand why. He wanted more for the stations and he didn't want to settle for mediocrity. It's hard to see that in the face of it, but hindsight makes it easier to understand. I really hope good things happen for Rick.

Air chain sounded clean and clear.. Seperation was nice... Mix was such to keep me long in the TSL and and the mic sound and delivery of the gal was 'forward motion' in textbook form... I really 'dug' it for the time listening...

Randy,

You may not want to hear this, but it's time to let Rick off the hook.

He may have been the bearer of the bad news seven years ago, but it wasn't his decision to pull the trigger. The order came from higher up. I wasn't in the room when the decision was made, but more than one person who was has since told me who made it.

Even if you don't want to forgive or to just let it go, that is -- of course -- your choice.

It's worth my pointing out that potential employers are reading this board and checking past posts and, in some cases, make decisions to hire or not hire based on what they read.

Hey Rob Reel, woow I missed you on the radio. Where are you at now? You and Rick in the mornings were great. I also miss Shari Scott.

I am back working as the Antwaan Randle El of the Cumulus station in Indy.

I do a little on WFMS, a little on WJJK, a little production and a little of whatever else needed.

But I'm not as overpaid as Randle El.

I visit this board once in awhile. Just because I worked in Indiana radio for a time. It has come down to arguing about Richmond Indiana radio? Time to get a life and move on. Very sad. You do realize you are the only ones who care. Right? Maybe an evening with a girl would do you some good.

Thank you for your .02. Of course, you realize that there are not enough jobs in the top 50 markets for everyone who would like to consider radio broadcasting their career. That means some of us work in Richmond, or Columbus or Washington. The last time I looked this was an INDIANA radio blog. Not just Evansville, or Fort Wayne or South Bend or Lafayette or Indy. I think we can all take something from most of what's posted here if only to see that no matter the size of market...there's always something. This blog is a great place to share those views and to vent a little about markets we care about because we're there. The titles of the topics are posted. If they look boring then maybe they shouldn't be opened.

I've been monitoring G101.3 on and off over the last couple days. It sounds more like a format tweak rather than a full-blown change.

They changed their slogan and pretty much cut out the 80s tunes minus a few strays here and there.

I have yet to hear hip-hop. They do play some choice rhythmic cuts, but its no different from what most hot ACs are playing these days.

It sounds pretty good, but if you're expecting to hear Snoop Dogg or Young Jeezy on 101, you're out of luck.
