WFMH, WMCJ Cullman sold

Here's the story on RadioandRecords about the sale:

WFMH, WMCJ Sale

The article doesn't mention WFMH-FM in Hackleburg as being part of the sale. Wonder if the AM's are just being sold off. If so, WFMH (the AM) will most likely be getting new calls. All three stations have used the WFMH calls at some point or another, WMCJ being the original WFMH. And there's the original WFMH-FM, too (now WYDE-FM). :)

Jimmy Dale is the play by play guy on Cullman High football, baseball, and basketball broadcasts. Didn't think he had that kind of money. MCJ has a good signal during the day. FMH is just your average graveyard 1340. Back in the 70's 1340 was WKUL "Cullman's Solid Rock". I grew up listening to it.

I'm glad to hear Jimmy Dale has bought the stations. WFMH FM used to be my favorite station before williams screwed everything up and moved it 60+ miles away. I think Solid Gospel should be moved to 1340 and 1460 should carry ABC's Real Country w/ local shows. Back when FMH FM carried it they were voted as Cullman's favorite station.

Last time I called WFMH for a job they were not hiring, so I applied at WKUL. Since WKUL turned me down, and WFMH is now locally owned again, maybe thay have some job openings... ;D

Let the music begin.

That's a good idea, but since Jimmy Dale is such a big sports fan, I bet one will keep ESPN radio.

You got me on that one. But, 1340 is News Talk most of the day, except for Jimmy's Breakfast Club and Finebaum is carried in the afternoons. I like some of Solid Gospel's programming on 1460, but I'd love to see a 5kw Country station return to AM. When I first got into this hobby, the 2 closest AM's were WPYK 1010 in Jasper, and 1190 WHIY in Moulton. in 2002 1010 flipped to spanish and 1190 became a repeat of WE-UP's AM gospel station.

If anything, Move Solid Gospel to 1340 and Keep Local Sports and Some of the ESPN Programming.

I know I'd make one terrible PD, but, then again, that would be some variety. :p
