WFMZ/69 Picture Quality

Whats the deal with Ch 69's picture quality? I've lived at 3 different places in the Delaware Valley in the last 2 years, and have Comcast cable. The picture quality looks as bad as the cheaply produced public access channels. It doesn't matter what show is airing, it is just bad picture quality. Is Comcast picking the signal up with an off air antenna?? I often hear interference that is similar to when a Nextel phone interferes with a radio signal (and no, I don't own a Nextel).

Any ideas?<P ID="signature">______________

Don't know about Comcast's locals PQ per se. Comcast here puts some locals between 95-99, and they all look subpar. WFMZ happens to be one of them. I get WFMZ-DT clear, though. I rarely watch it though. The newscasts look fine.

Interesting. I'm gonna have to say it must be comcast. I had the same problem with Ch69, however I recently got directtv, and the picture for its shows all look the same as anywhere else (for example Judge Judy is shown on both 69 and fox29, and both look the same) Their local news still looks like a High School production, but other then that the channel is clear on direct tv.

I know here in south Jersey, Comcasr isn't happy about havning to carry the channel. Which is why its on ch99. All the 90 channels look like crap, but if you get it on a lower channel and still get a bad picture, maybe comcast is messing with it?

I have DirecTV and I remember when WLVT 39 was on there it was like an over the air signal many times.

WLVT did just use an antenna at DirecTV's point of presence. They didn't want to spend to fiber in. I wonder if WLVT had given a DT or fiber PQ in, if WLVT would have stayed on DirecTV.

WFMZ-DT reaches Philadelphia well, unlike WLVT-DT. WFMZ's engineers can just use WFMZ-DT at DirecTV's site, to receive a clear picture.

What channel is WFMZ-DT on?

WFMZ-DT is on channel 46. They appear to be currently doing 218 kW out of a possible 400 kW.

WLVT-DT is on channel 62. They are doing 47.7 kW.
