WFNA 1660

Picked it up Monday north on Indianapolis around Frankfort, Indiana. What I heard?? "Its amazing how far 5000 watts can go!" Checking the FCC database, it is 10K watts, but what a catch in the middle of the day, no less!

Is that the one from Charlotte,NC? I get 'em in the middle of the day in E.KY too.

When you get up that high in the band you have some daytime short-hop skywave

Mid-winter I can get them all day unless there is local noise on the band. The rest of the year they're solid except during the middle of the day. Mid-summer they start rolling in about 4:30-5 pm.

interesting! From your location I would expect that 1660 from Kalamazoo, MI would dominate.
That is a frequent late-day catch here in Pennsylvania.

I can usually hear WFNA here in E. Central Florida, over and under WCNZ in Marco Island in the mornings going to work.

WFNA seems to have broad lobes going north-south.

My sister lives near Charleston WV.They sound like a local there with the exception of midday.

That might have been the station that it was fighting with at the time. Both were equal, than I lost WFNA. Kalamazoo might have been the other.
