WFNW/Naugatuck's cool website

Does WWCO (or WMMW or WSNG) have any local presence? A sales office?

No. Everything is operated out of Bloomfield. Once in a while WWCO will have different commericals from the other 3 stations, but not very often. If you see my post below about Buckley Desperate for advertisers you'll see that I posted what I heard on WWCO "You're listening to Dr. Joy Browne on WWCO AM 1240 and so are your potential customers. Call 860-243-1115." That's DRC's main number in Bloomfield.

As for programming not simulcast on all 4 stations - WWCO runs The New York Yankees (and have since before Buckley took over) and they were doing high school sports. Not sure who tho. Naugatuck Greyhounds (I think their called) are on WATR. WSNG used to carry Torrington Football. Not sure if they still do or not.

Not in 2009 they did.

Naugy High Greyhounds Football has been a staple on WWCO since 1992. Not sure about '09 as I'm not in the listening area. WATR does more of a game of the week type of thing. Torrington High Red Raider football has been on and off WSNG so I'm not sure what the case is in '09.

Concentrating on one specific high school for football coverage is nothing new to WWCO. I seem to recall WWCO airing Holy Cross High Crusader games in the '80's.

When did WFNW get sold and flip to Portugese? I know for a while they were also simulcast on WDJZ 1530 in Bridgeport until he sold it (1530) to Principle Broadcasting. And I know it was earlier this decade that WFNW flipped from Portugese to Spanish as Galaxia. One more note. Their website show's Price Chopper as a sponsor. Price Chopper in Waterbury has been closed since June 2008. I don't think they're a sponsor anymore. Bristol, Torrington, and Southington are the closest Price Chopper locations to Waterbury, but not too many people make the trek to Bristol and Southington from Waterbury. (I know people who work there and told me sales did not increase after Waterbury closed. Not sure in sales in Torrington increase after Watebury closed. And only a very small handful of employees transfered from the closed Waterbury store to Bristol and Southington).

Today it's the BusinessTalk Radio Network based out of Stamford, Ct. Studios used to be in Greenwich. They went from Colorado to Florida to the Nutmeg State.

I think you missed a stop in Chicago. I began as a board op at WNTY in Southington in February 2002 right after they flipped from relaying FOX News to all-talk. Some of the programming came from The Business Talk Radio Network and I remember BTR giving out a 312 phone number for more info about their programming. 312 is the area code for Chicago. Then I remember when they moved to Greenwich and started giving out a 203 number.

So what's WNTY up to these days?
