WFNX announces last day on the air.

Announced on their twitter about 12 hours ago - final day of WFNX will be Sunday, July 22, with Clear Channel taking control on July 23.

:(

I initially thought they'd flip after the final FNX anthem, but it seems they've stopped those after they gutted the station.

I hope they can put anything but Rock and Roll.
Country will be ok. Urban AC (The Touch-Cumulus Media Network) will be great. As well as Spanish HOT AC (Mia 1430)
and you all?
Can't wait to see

As Fybush and Mark/BRW pointed out acc to the WFNX twitter feed 7/21 will be the last "full day"
of WFNX (maybe they'd go to stunting then new format). 7/21 is a Saturday (I know because I'm going to a Hot Tuna show 2 wks before then also on a Sat. so perhaps the new CC-run format would launch on Monday 7/23...

I suspect WFNX-101.7 will fade into history at 12 Midnight on Sunday, July 22nd, with Clear Channel taking over one minute later (approximately), at 12:01 A.M. on July 23rd.

What WFNX should do is have a farewell "blowout" between 6 P.M. and 12 Midnight that evening, with recent and former air personalities involved to say goodbye and spin their favorite songs.

Just before Midnight, the station should play R.E.M.'s "It's The End Of The World As We Know It", then longtime FNXers Julie Kramer and Henry Santoro should do the last station ID (one could do WFNX's; the other could then do WFEX's) followed by the two saying in unison "Good-Bye and Thank You!".

I hope they can put anything but Rock and Roll.

Why the hell do you want a satellite fed station?? And why would CC pay Cumulus for a networked format when they have their own "brands" to network?

The last thing we need is an "off the bird" format in market #10.

Sometimes I scratch my head.

Talk 1200 simulcast. Bet on it. Bet on Howie when his contract is up at WRKO too. They just hired McPhee, so they are putting money into it. And I really doubt they would be dumping money in it for it to be only on 1200 going into the future.

I scratch my head at the idea that we should lose another frequency for a simulcast. At least Laura's post suggested filling some format voids in the market.

It's a matter of survival. AM is doomed.

...& yet prices for an A.M. station in New England remain astronomically high!

please don't use gods name in vain!! And i like your ideas for change laurojrm its just that this is Boston which is market 10 so niche formats just won't work here unless done right!!

thank you for your good feedback. It was just ideas. nothing to hurt no one

So it's gonna be Sunday July 22nd., eh? Well, I will be listening to it until the end and then I'll switch to somewhere else. I don't know where, but it will be somewhere.

Acc. to bostonradiowatch.com:

>>After (July) 21st, the station will become automated/jockless without any staff until Clear Channel's official FCC license takeover.

Not sure when that will be...how long it would take

What stations flip formats on a Sunday, other than the Harold Camping "Rapture Radio" Broadcasting Network?

so technically wfnx's last day on air is who knows when?? even though it will more automated then it is now!!

A tad thin-skinned, aren't we? And, you've only made ONE suggestion. Literally hundreds of times. We've heard it. And you don't listen when we ask you to stop.
Suggest SOMETHING ELSE. Please.

Did I did something bad. Is it a crime to suggest things here, God.
All you all do is put me down, pick on someone else rather than me.
