WFNX.com Announces Airstaff

According to an article on FMQB (http://www.fmqb.com/article.asp?id=2557674 , scroll down for it), the online WFNX.com has announced it's airstaff which will begin broadcasting (or netcasting, if you will) a week from Wednesday (October 31st).

At least to start, they will be live weekdays from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M.

By contrast, Boston.com's Radio BDC, which employs several former WFNX air personalities, has more hours per day of presumably live DJ programming.

True, but it would be great to start hearing some DJ's on WFNX and not an automation.

This is great, except I will be hugely disappointed if the economics don't work out for these parties and we lose our local alt-rock radio again.

From FMQB: Modern Rock WFNX.com announces its official on-air lineup, when the Internet station re-launches on Halloween. APD Mike Gioscia will handle 9 a.m.-noon, with station Executive Producer Kurt St. Thomas on noon - 2 p.m., AMD Sabrina Lloyd from 2-5 p.m. and MD Michael Marotta heard 5-6 p.m. with 'FNX's local show "Boston Accents."

Check out Local 92/9 on WBOS HD-2

Hoop de doo... nice of them to try, but this should have been in place when they transitioned to online only. People have short memories.

I'm guessing not the Sabrina Lloyd who starred in "Sliders" and "Sports Night", although that would be awesome if it were true. :)

It's actually Sabrina Boyd. She was part of WFNX's weekend airstaff as "Kaya," and also went by the same name when she worked at WBRU.

I think Sabrina Boyd also served as MD for a time at WBRU as well.

She was also basically running the ship once Kramer, Henry, Paul D, Jim Ryan, etc. were all gone. The last few days of 101.7 WFNX like when Tai in the morning were on, she was the producer/do-it-all type of person.

Alternative Rock did come back to New York, but it only lasted four months until it was sold to CBS Radio. I guess the only problem with New Rock 101.9 was that their were no DJ's. But the ratings went from 1.6 in july to 2.1 in august, so it was doing pretty good.

Hopefully we don't lose Alternative Rock in Boston again, but it seems to doing great so far. I've listened to Radio BDC, and it's pretty awesome. I can't wait until WFNX.com launches, i'm excited to hear the new DJ's.

New Rock 101.9 did actually have jocks, however they were voicetracked from Chicago. It's sad that they have to go, as it's clear that NYC can support an alternative rock station. Maybe Cumulus will try it with its recent acquisition of 94.7 WFME/Newark.

Alot of New Yorkers seem upset over losing another Alternative Rock station, many of them are starting a petition on Change.org. Many people are also creating facebook pages, i've only found a couple so far,101.9 Bring Back Rock to New York and Keep 101.9 NY New Rock on the air.

When (101.7 FM) WFNX was sold in May to Clear Channel, many FNX fans also started a petition on Change.org and they also created a Facebook page and it was called Occupy WFNX.

Good luck with your petitions. It doesn't make a damn bit of difference. And why should it? If WFNX was supported by enough people listening and enough sponsors, then it would still be around. A petition from a couple hundred people isn't going to make any difference.

A non-comm listener supported model, bypassing the sponsors, wouldn't work for FNX either, as a good chunk of the target demo doesn't have money to give to a public radio station.

Their not my petitions, I just found them online, It does not matter once the sale is final, which it pretty much is, i do not think a petition will do much, unfortunately. I don't understand it either, it will probably just relaunch online.

Launch party is on right NOW! Kurt St. Thomas is on air right now and he's going to introduce the airstaff. 9-1 tonight with the actual launch at midnight. Cool stuff!

They need to drop DJ3001. I never thought that I'd miss Carlos; even he/it would be preferable to this drone. Otherwise, I haven't warmed to the daily version of Boston Accents, though maybe it will grow on me. The song titles and history were useful, but appear to have broken last week.
