WFNX format tweaking

Noticed today that FNX has again tweaked its format. Gone are the active rock-esque bands like Shinedown and Linkin Park, and in are actual alternative bands like Flaming Lips and the Strokes (not "Last Nite"). This is definitely one step in the right direction. Good job, FNX!

I noticed this today as well, from the upgraded processing to a playlist more like the "old" FNX, they are definately headed in the right direction.

I did notice that Shinedown disappeared from their playlist, and it's good to know they're headed back further in the right direction. I guess going more mainstream wasn't helping their ratings, so they went back to serving their usual niche. Good move if you ask me.

They're also playing Guster, DEEP Radiohead cuts (I heard "Idioteque" (!) ) The Shins, Travis, Jesus and Mary Chain, all sorts of good stuff...awesome radio over there

Yeah, musically the new guy got it all squared away. Let's hope he gets to the morning show next. It's a mess.

Yeah, i heard "Just Like Honey" from Jesus & Marychain today.. i was floored. Plus, the whole set was great, new Death Cab song they played was excellent. Preset reassigned.

And while we're at it, let's get rid of "Love Line" and "One In Ten" talk shows. I'm not against gays or lesbians; I'm just against their agenda. And what happened to the days when sexal talk was private and confidential? We don't need it being rattled off to the whole world.

One-in-Ten is not "sexual talk". It's issue oriented talk for a segment of the community.

"Their agenda" = equal rights. If you're opposed to that, move to Iran or some other theocratic country that gives its citizens no civil liberties.

One in Ten is an intelligent, amusing program that serves the community well. It's a far more interesting listen than any of the other dry "community affairs" shows that other stations run.

1 in 10 is considered public affairs programming. Most stations run their PA shows on Sunday mornings. WFNX has theirs on Sunday nights.

One in Ten is also one of the first of it's kind, and one of the longest running programs of this type. It's also perfect on WFNX, a station with a liberal audience and represents the Boston Phoenix as well.

Would be overjoyed if WFNX dropped Love Line - and actually played MUSIC during that time of day..

But I enjoy listening to "One In Ten", and I'm straight. It's only once a week, not nightly like Love Line. I also wish WFNX would bring back Jeff Turtin's Sunday morning Jazz show. And "Hot Dots"..

What "agenda" does One In Ten have that you don't like?

Me too. 2 more hours of Paul Driscoll's show would be great! Especially when he's playing stuff like Editors, Stone Roses, and Broken Social Scene like he did last nite ;D

One-in Ten ( or 1st in 10 ) sound like a football game. Maybe Kansas City Chief RB Larry Johnson should host this show for community service.
