WFNZ-AM

Boston radio guy here.

Tuned in to WFNZ-AM this afternoon to get some Panthers insight before the Pats/Carolina game this Sunday. What did I get? A 100% complete RIP OFF of WEEI-AM (The #1 sports station in the country) out of Boston. They copy EVERY PART of the The Big Show from the Weiner Whinerline down to the freaking BACKROUND music.

Completely pathetic. What happened to being original?

Isn't 660 The Fan WFAN/NYC the #1 sports station? They are one of the top billers in NYC, they've gotta be...
______________

WEEI has won each arbitron books since Winter 05.

Billing-wise though, I'm sure the Fan beats them.
______________

The Fan has traded around the #1 billing station in the nation title with WGN and KIIS.

Share wise, I'm sure some station in Cheyenne is probably the highest rated.

To quote one of my old program directors... "There's no such thing as an original idea in radio anymore." And this is sad. When I was a kid I remember traveling to different cities and hearing a difference in radio from market to market. Now, in the past few years I have been doing quite a bit of traveling, and every market sounds the same. Even the voice quys. And even inside the same markets its hard to tell a difference from station to station sometimes. I used to work in a fairly large market, and when you came up with a good idea the station across town would copy it. Oh well, what are ya gonna do but try to be original yourself.

Yes, WFAN is consistently in the top 5 billers in the country...all formats included. They are also a sister station of WFNZ.
