Scott Thompson from WEKZ/WEKZ-FM/WQLF said a couple of weeks ago in the Freeport newspaper that on Feb. 1st when he took over WFPS and WFRL in Freeport that WFPS would change formats, but the call letters would stay the same. Actually, what happened, is that they are still country, but have adjusted the music a little and re-imaged the station from Country Legends 92.1 to Kickin Country, K92. I wouldn't exactly call that a format "change". And why make a point of keeping the WFPS call letters? What does that have to do with "K92"?
Sounds pretty silly.

Guess FPS for FreePortStation<P ID="signature">______________

Apparently when they originally changed from WACI, WFPS was for "Freeport's personality station".

i'm guessing that the K in their slogan comes from Kickin country. I saw their billboard. the billboard looks good, now if they'd only add more songs.

I don't mean to sound cocky, but again....some of you are thinking too much like radio people. The average listener doesn't put 2 and 2 together (WFPS and "K"92). The "K" stands for Kickin' Country. The response to the music tweaking and billboard placement that we did has been overwhelmingly positive. Better things are yet to come!

No one listens to 92.1 anymore. Want proof? Go into any local business that used to have it on.....you will now find 98.5 on instead.....FACT!

are you sure thats their address it keeps coming up dead when I type it in. I did a search on Yahoo and I couldn't get it to come up???
