WFRL Freeport, Illinois

WFRL 1570 in Freeport, Illinois has switched from voice tracked gold based AC to the "Hitparade" satellite format.

It's too bad that HPR didn't last....but I'm not surprised because John Rook and the gang didn't have a solid business plan in place....but that's just my humble opinion.

However, on further review and listening to WFRL online, I think they did a very smart thing: They pulled the plug early. As of right now, I'm hearing a very good mix of 60s - 70s oldies with HPR and some classic WFRL jingles. I know for a fact they already had a lot of this music in their automation system since they were locally programmed before.

Scott Thompson and the crew are to be commended - they had a plan!
