Anyone know if Maverick Media has taken ownership of these stations yet? Doesn't seem to be any programming changes so far.

I believe as of June 1 they were in Maverick's hands.. In fact, I was over by their Sandy Hollow studios yesterday and they've got Maverick Media on the sign so I'd say it's pretty much done. Also, they dropped "A Radioworks Station" from all their legals.

From what I understand, the stations in Rockford and Freeport are not yet technically owned by Maverick. The transfer continues, but in a multimillion dollar transaction, there are hold ups and the process is always slower than one would hope.

Change is underway at WNTA 1330 as Stephenie is out as talkshow host. Dunno what kind of changes are in the works, but froggie might know... Ken was on this afternoon giving an update and said that all lineup changes on NTA should be complete with in a week to two weeks... CC

Maverick Stuff

I could be wrong... but I believe that WNTA will be airing The Clark Howard Show in the afternoons soon - or something like it. I've been hearing some murmurings about the Dave Ramsey Show too. Expect the Groovin Hits format to go soon also, possibly all at once with the afternoon changes. None to soon on the Groovin Hits IMHO.

PS - Crazee, didn't RadioWorks have a CP to move the towers for 92.1 closer to Rockford? Right now they lease tower space from Cumulus I believe, but I remember something about a CP to move their tower to right at the Stephenson/Winnebago County line.

Re: Maverick Stuff

That would be interesting if they do air the Clark Howard show... He does very well on WSB out of Atlanta, and the other stations he is on... The only thing I can see happening is that he may gearing up to run for some sort of office which would leave him without a show... LBK airs the Dave Ramsey show in the afternoons... Those are good talkshows, but IMO those are very weak shows to put up against Sean in the afternoons... I did not think to much of Stephenies show, but since she did not have a true talkshow host to coach her and mold her that was what I think was her downfall... As for the Freeport stations I seem to remember some sort of move, but I don't know if that will ever be done or not... If it were to be moved it would put a better signal into Rockford and it would open up the door for another different format here in Rockford... Looking at MM other properties they seem to like country and rock... I would just like to see somebody put a balls to the wall CHR and do it right and really take on ZOK and MM could be the company to do it right... CC

Actually, it was WXXQ that had the CP, and then moved (going from a 50kw B to an 11kw B1). All I see for WFPS, is a dismissed app to go to 6kw, and an approved one to increase HAAT and power to 3.6kw. I haven't seen any CP's to actually move the transmitter location.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: RR Star Article on Stephanie's Firing @

Like I said if she had some decent coaching on how to really do a good talkshow she may have had a chance... She may have had a following, but when it comes to making money you have to have decent numbers to back things up... CC
