WFSB goes solo anchor

I remember when Denise did her last Nightbeat newscast. She said she lives quite aways from the station in Rocky Hill and was never home for her child at night. She said she looked forward to being able to go home and have dinner with her family after the 6 o'clock newscast wraps up. I say good for her and anyone else who has the opportunity to spend more time with their family like that.

As far as the Courant article, it says Darren Sweeney's contract was NOT renewed in July. I remember watching him too during his last Sunday morning weather report. He was pretty gracious about having worked at WFSB and had nothing but nice things to say. By his comments, I thought that he chose to leave for another opportunity. I had no idea they didn't renew his contract. What was WFSB thinking?! He was a true meteorologist and had a gift for the trade. I would say he fit in with the head of the class (i.e., Brad Field, Geoff Fox, Bruce DePriest, Dr. Mel, and Mark Dixon). How does someone like him end up unemployed when there are so many clowns on-the-air in this market?

Denise has done so much for WFSB, that she should be able to have whatever she wants.

I too can't understand why Darren was let go. He sure has talent and a passion for his line of work, and I guess WFSB management didn't feel they could deal with such a talent. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he shows up soon on another station.

Stations across the country have seen serious drops in ad revenue with this economy. As a result cuts both behind the scenes and in front of the camera are now a fact in many markets.

Does that mean we'll see the back of Keith Kountz on Channel 8? Wish, wish, wish! ;D

This is the station that hired Dina Falco to be the sports director...enough said!!
