Fort Myers WFSX Daybreak

Mike Opelca became the permanent host of "Daybreak" a few months ago.

Then he went on vacation two or three weeks ago, but the guy who's been filling in says he's "Guest hosting on Daybreak," with no mention of Opelka.

Meanwhile Opelca has been filling in afternoons on WPHT.

Anyone know what's going on?

No idea at all. He's still listed as host on the site. Opelka might be using vacation time and picked up the WPHT sub to help someone and earn some extra cash while on PTO. He's pretty good wherever he lands. Please post here if anything gets mentioned.

Thanks. Maybe he prefers the flexibility of doing fill-ins. I've heard him on a number of different stations over the years. He's good at it.

Could be. I think the station just possibly wasn't willing to pay him what he's worth. Glad he remains on the air doing something. He was great on the syndicated Daybreak show he did with Angie Austin.
