WFUN TRIBUTE WEBSITE BEING BUILT

Alan,

Looks like you're off to a really good start. Now you have to find some Don Wright (worked with Don at WRMF) and Mike E. Harvey (worked with Mike at WFTL) airchecks. By the way I made the Bwanna Johnny aircheck you have on the site. It was a kick to hear it, he was great!

Do you ever see anyone from our old K-102 days?

Mike

I think this is a GREAT idea. Having worked at WFUN in 1974 and 1975, I can say it was the most FUN I've had in radio. I miss Bwana Johnny, Don Wright and Brad Baad. They were special people. I'm now working at Classy92.1FM in West Palm Beach. So far, 33 years in South Florida radio!!!

Jim I think you worked at WFTL too for awhile didn't you? Whatever happened to Brad Baad? I didn't know him but enjoyed listening to him on WFUN.

Sadly, Brad had cancer and pass away several years ago over in the Lakeland area. Yes I worked at WFTL with Mike Harvey, John Lupton and the crew. I was also at WBGS with Charlie Cook, at 96X with Jerry Clifton, Eric Rhodes and the gang, at WJNO in West Palm Beach for 18 years, etc. etc. etc. Where does all the time go?

WOW!! Blast from the past! Jim, great to see you're still around. You may not remember me as Stuart Elliott...but as my first on air name: The Boy Wonder ;D. If you haven't seen nor heard, we're having a 96X reunion at the end of April. It would be great if you could join us. The details are below.

Jim I first heard you doing news at WFUN and I thought this guy has the perfect voice and delivery for a top 40 newsman.

Sorry to hear about Brad. I didn't know him but he had a likeability that came through on the air.

I too worked at WFTL...twice. '74-'78 and again in '79. The second time ended badly.

Wow Alan, great website!

Mark In The Dark

PS Wasn't it at WFUN where you would put in one of those huge carts and then ride around South Florida listening to your pre-recorded show? That always made me jealous!!! Those huge carts wouldn't fit our cart machines at Y! OR...I would have done it there! Party Onnnnnn!

Stuart Elliot..!!!

Yes I remember you. You may recall I met Jacquie there. She'd been hired as the sales secretary. This was in 1977. Six weeks after knowing her, we got married. We're celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this August. Can you believe that? Fill me in on the 96X reunion. That would be a hoot. Who's in so far?

Thanks,

Jim Edwards

Hey...

I found Terry Alan and he's going to the WFUN reunion!

In 1971, I noticed that 940-WINZ had joined the Miami AM Top 40 battle. They actually sounded pretty good, and seemed to have a signal that should have been much more competitive with WQAM. How long did they stay in that format? When did WQAM finally dump Top 40.

WQAM was still (sort of) T40 into the very earl 80's. They went country in 81 or 82.
