Stupid move, WFXT. I'm sure that Butch will be back on the air somewhere in the Boston market before you know it. He did a great job with "68 Sports Night" (at the old WABU) and did a great job at Channel 25 for the past 10 years. He'll do fine.
 
My guess is that WCVB picks him up, just like they did with Randy Price (7), Harvey Leonard (7), Liz Walker (4), Bianca de La Garza (25), and Mike Wankum (56).

While that would be ideal, WCVB already has a fully-loaded sports dept. between Mike Lynch, Mike Dowling, and Bob Halloran who works sports when he is not anchoring.

Why? He's good at what he does and deserved better than this.
 
It should have been clear when Lobel was let go, the trend is to cut sports staff and min's on the broadcast (I can think of several guys who are likely in trouble).
I'd be surprised if 4,5,7 get involved but Butch's agent is undoubtedly making calls and good luck to him.
 
Stupid move on FOX 25's part. I wish WBZ could pick him up, but i doubt it. WBZ seems to be getting better lately...
