WFXW DT Terre Haute

I hear that WFXW DT 39 has suddenly appeared with a good signal about 50 miles NW of Terre Haute. Yet I see no sign of it even though WFXW 38 is pretty strong here. Anyone know if WFXW DT is operating on temporary facilities (perhaps an antenna on the west side of the tower or from a different site)? FCC shows 1.2KW temporary authority...that may have been their power up until a few days ago, but not now. Anyone know the inside story?

I got WFXW today about 45 miles southwest of TH in Crawford County, Ill. The DT signal was booming with pixelation on an indoor rabbit ears.

WTHI and WFXW are good, now hows about WTWO?

WFXW said they were planning on being at full DTV power by the first week of December. I don't know immediately what their full-power is.

850kw/248m, which is about 170' lower than their analog antenna. They're also moving to the WTWO tower. (I would be surprised if WTWO doesn't follow suit quickly as it appears both stations are using the same antenna?)

A posting at mywabashvalley.com indicates that WTWO-DT is now at full power. I've not been able to receive it yet.

WFXW analog 38 has been off the air since Sunday...anyone know why? I hear that the DT is on. Did they shut the analog off early?

No, they are just having problems, and they have already sunk a boatload of money on that analog transmitter. I understand they are going to fix the problem.

Here we go again...I'm told that WFXW DT and WTWO DT have both been off the air for several days. They ought to air Hee Haw when they actually do manage to get on the air. "Gloom Despair & Agony On Me....If It Wasn't For Bad Luck, I'd Have No Luck At All". I know that stuff happens, but these poor people have the WORST luck in staying on the air. Anyone know what the latest story is?

I wonder if any other Nexstar stations are having similar troubles. It seems like Ch 7 in Evansville has been stable digital for over a year.

The way I head it that both 2 and 38's HD programming has had some really bad luck recently, both HD antennas have fried!

I can't find the paperwork to prove it but I'm 95% sure there's only one antenna, both stations are sharing it. (so if that one antenna fried, both stations would be off...)

Both stations' paperwork specifies the same make & model of antenna, at the same coordinates (channel 2's analog tower) and the same elevation. (just below the top of that tower)
