wgar translator 99.1

hello guys.
i visited the city that i love, cleveland ohio in 1996 and used to live in from 1969 to 1984. wgar 99.5 fm had a very strong good signal in cleveland. is that still true today? what got me mixed up was what i saw on www.radio-locator.com. i need someone's help to explain to me why wgar 99.5 has a construction permit for a translator on 99.1 fm in cleveland ohio. can someone that lives in the cleveland area look up this info on www.radio-locator.com and then help me out. this has me confused big time. thanks for the help. jdc42

That planned translator which isn't on air currently is not going to actually air WGAR :) That's just a place holder... Rumors are that it will air WTAM ... or another format via a HD-2 signal if Clear Channel ever is able to put it on air at a location they want.

hello guys.
thank you for the info xmusicmatt. wow. maybe they will and maybe they wont. if wtam am 1100 gets on fm and it can be a good signal, they will get even more listeners than they do right now i think. anyone else think this is true?? jdc42

WKDD Translator 106.1

I just saw on Radio-Locator info on a transmitter for WKDD for 106.1 in the Cleveland area. Type in Cleveland or a related zip code and it should pop up. Right now, the station - W291BV - is supposed to be Air 1.

No protection for WVNO Mansfield?

It's outside of WVNO's protected contour. If it were to interefere with anything it would more likely be WBBG Niles, but that station's protected contour falls short of the translator's coverage.

Just what we need, two more Clear Channel transmitters in Cleveland.

By the way, do these stations count as an addition to the market "cap"?

The map of 99.1 looks like a pretty respectable signal, hardly some little fill-in.

I just wonder what's going to go on the 106.1 transmitter. A talk station? A new music station perhaps? There's also going to be an upgraded 102.5 transmitter signal, which will be heard in at least the cities of Cleveland and Canton. It is also currently supposed to be broadcasting Air 1, but in Akron.

106.1 has been broadcasting a very...very poor signal of WCVJ 90.9 from Jefferson. You wouldn't know the station existed with all of the static. WKRK and WFHM are broadcasting down the street which maybe the cause of static. Picking up Air 1 off of WKDD HD3 would solve this issue. EMF also needs a new feeder station for 103.7 in Cleveland since 91.9 was forced to sign-off. 106.1 could then feed 103.7. Just a guess, maybe EMF gives up 102.5 to Clear Channel for the right to use WKDD HD3 as an Air 1 signal.
