WGCI

Horrible voice tracking on overnights. Give it a rest! Just play music on automation, stop the pipes from Philly, Detroit, and Nawlins. Its not working.

And AL B. SYLK! Most HORRIBLE voice ever on WGCI and bruh....... hate to tell you something, but EBONICS went out the door in broadcasting in the late 90s! If i hear one more time W-G-C to the "Idd Eye" one more time im gonna smash the radio. Talk NORMAL bruh...... at least, if we can even stand to hear the voice......

*shakes head*

Dont even give GCI a Chance.......... B-96 all the way......

Still GCI is supposed to be the Peoples station.... the legendary heritage Urban of the market. And its never been a street station. They seem to be getting alot more hood under the new PD..... lost alot of "respect" and the quality of the station, has suffered.

B96 target is not even comparable to GCi. They do not target the same demo, they have always been marketed as a Top 40 station and only crossed over to Hip Hop after the dance craze died. Segments of the station that ARE hip hop are done in a quality way, yet they still are the station for the blonde girls and suburban white boys, not for the Urban demo.

I CANNOT remember a time when B96 actually stopped playing the hits to talk about community issues, violence, stds or anything (besides private lives........... WHICH should be brought back!) They play the music to get listeners and to bill, period. Urban radio (Black radio) always has a sense of committment to the community... because its For the poeple. Still, the station is a shadow of what it used to be, as well as V103.

Chicago does need an urban people's station which targets the streets,, but B-96,, granted this is at 5 AM on SAT Morning after the Street mix,, but they air a public Address or Affair's show, which addresses those topics and also the local CHI Town non for profit organizations,, I think thats cool of them. B-96 plays more new cutting edge hip hop,,, top 40, and Dance music, that GCI,,, Kiss, Power, and Dance Factory wont touch..

For us older people, b-96 will never lose their dance-top 40 image, but i know plenty of young blacks that listen to B-96,, and i know Whites and Asians and Hispanics that listen only to GCI... Colors arent that important in 2009, we are all poor and in the streets together, and all the stations get multicultural listeners.. I even know black people that listen to the likes of US 99, 97.9,,, 100.3,, 93.9 ETC..... And there are youger whites and so fourth that listen to V-103
