WGFP 940 Webster MA to classic hits

It did some newer artists but quite a few classic country songs as well. They've been country for a long time. Surprised they flipped.

I listened to the station for awhile this afternoon. A mix of 60s, 70s, and some 80s. They had NBC news on the hour followed by the forecast from accu-weather. They are definitely positioning themselves as a local Webster - Dudley station. The website already is much better than the previous one for Cool Country 940.

Didn’t Mike used to work at Magic 106.7 and LiteFavorites.com?

Mike works as a fill in at Magic 106.7 & as a fill in at B101 in Providence. I think he also fills in at Fun 107.

I think he's a morning producer at one of the Magic sister stations too.

There's another somewhat familiar voice evenings and weekends on 940 too. I heard it when in the area over the weekend this past week.

100.1 WWFX is already doing Classic Hits, licensed to Southbridge. But "The Pike" is a rock-leaning classic hits station. No Madonna or Michael Jackson for them.

From the description above, it sounds like WGFP is really Oldies, not Classic Hits, since it's playing 60s songs. I assume its classic Top 40 songs, including dance and pop. If that's true, the format should be described as "Oldies."

I've heard the station.......its oldies based classic hits, i guess one would say.. you wont hear elvis, or the supremes here. As you said, The Pike is rock leaning... and WGFP is oldies based.. its... softer if you will..
