WGFX/Brian Jennings

I saw where Citadel VP of News/Talk/Sports formats Brian Jennings exits after his position was eliminated. He was one of the ones that helped make The Zone what it is today. Nice guy that seemed to "get it" and let each station do what was best for that market. He didn't have a " I know it all" kind of style.

That seems to be the way radio is headed. The ones that get it are the ones most expendable. The ones that get it are a threat to the ones controlling the money. The suits don't want you and me to show them how to do their job.

Then again, if you are going to let each station do what is best for their market, is the position really necessary? And if he helped make The Zone what it is today but let the station be the best for Nashville, what did he do? (Just askin'...)

While it is always sad to see good people lose their jobs, it is my understanding that Citadel's recent elimination of some corporate programmers is a move to remove a layer of management to save money and push some responsibilities back to the local market. And that part of this is a good thing. I've been in a meeting or two with Brian in days gone by and I wish him the best.

Good point but many times they don't let you do whats best for the local market. He did. ( just sayin' ;D )
