"Frank Meyer, former managing editor of Variety, died Jan. 29 in New York of lung cancer. He was 71.
Meyer worked in journalism and public relations in Miami and reported from Israel before moving to Variety in New York, where he served as music editor, editor of special sections and managing editor.
Born in Port Chester, NY, he moved to Miami in 1952, and attended the the U. of Miami. Meyer started in journalism while in the Army, and then returned to Miami where he became a sports writer.
He worked as assistant to a producer at the Coconut Grove Playhouse and as producer of "The Larry King Show" on WIOD Miami."
