WGIR AM 610

Looking for a new Morning Talk Host?

Didn't the current guy,Paul Westcott, just barely start there?

No reflection (necessarily)on Paul Westcott the host, but does the Clear Channel New Hampshire Sales Force have any experience selling AM Radio? 610 WGIR is a long time stand-up News and Talk operation, you would think there'd be some local advertiser support.

I don't think I've heard so many PSAs filling out commercial breaks...EVER!

there's plenty of " yknow AM Radio is a tough sell" to go around. The sales people make their money with the FMs.

Westcott is a very capable talker. Young and ambitious. WTAG is a good move for him.

Although WGIR AM has a great signal, I sometimes wonder why Clear Channel didn't pick up the 92.1 in Peterborough last year. I guess they felt that $725,000 was too much for a rimshot simulcast of 610.

CC simulcasts the WGIR morning show on 96.7 WOSQ Rochester covering the more populous Seacoast area....less folks West of Manch-Vegas, probably seen as not a value added acquisition. Just a guess

I agree, I've never heard so many PSAs on a talk station either. This morning I had on WGIR AM. It was Wescott's last day on the air for WGIR. He mentioned that during his time at WGIR the sales staff got to go home early one Friday because the comercial spots on WGIR 610 were sold out. I find that very hard to belive. In addition I think PSAs are annoying. I would rather hear commercials.

Not sold out in Morning Drive. Rush might be sold out..Hannity...and whatever Sports their shilling.

Fat pills, hair restoration and PSAs....sounds bad. They've also shied away from "news",ironically. maybe hard to sell that to local advertisers. Fox News eadlines,AND :30sec of NH news every hour. Ah,yeah and the weather and traffic, too. No sports...

Pretty simple, salespeople can sell Rush/Hannity because they sell themselves. A business owner is more likely going to skew conservative, and won't care what their numbers are. CC is smart enough to know investing too much in a full-blown morning news product is simply burning money, they know people in the key demos get their hard news elsewhere in the morning, and clearly they make enough off other dayparts and the FM performs well. Why take the risk and hurt the bottom line? CC has their hub/outsourcing system in place across New England for news, it's cost-effective even if the product isn't all that great, why mess with it if the NH stations are profitable?

WGIR has been featuring some fill-in hosts for a week or so.

Maybe they'll bring back Charlie Sherman?

political hacks,Rush wannabees.

and Charlie Sherman has it made with his non profit ex dir gig...

I'm hearing that Jack Heath from WTPL in the afternoons is leaving for GIR. Will it make a difference over at 610? Maybe they need to look at an FM signal just for relevancy sakes....

Here's hoping that Jack wasn't keeping that uinder wraps for awhile.

WGIR can have Paul Westcott back. IMHO, listening to him on WTAG in Worcester is about exciting as watching paint dry.

wow.

you'd REALLy hate Feinberg...sleepy,and snotty. At least Paul had some life to him.

Geez JimC how about some positive feedback? IE: the "guest" hosts CC has had filling in,aqre all pretty good in their own way. MAYBE WGIR can have a rotating group of regular hosts, each with their own unique style.

Hmm? And Feinberg has talk radio credentials.

Rotating Hosts? No.

Anyway Jack Heath announced On Air today (WTPL 107.7 the Pulse)that he was leaving. Last day is Friday. No other details at the moment.
