WGIR-AM

Is Charlie Sherman leaving?

Former WMUR-TV Sports Guy has been hosting the Morning Show on AM 610 for awhile.

The station has an ad on Allaccess for for a Morning Host.

Hmmmm?

Seems like it :

"The 2012 election starts here! We need someone to be at the helm of New Hampshire’s premiere political talk station. If you’re in touch with New Hampshire and national politics please e-mail your resume and short 5 minute or less MP3 demo to [email protected] with Morning Show Opening in the subject line. No calls, please."

About a month ago WGIN 930 AM in Rochester dropped his show when they flipped from news/talk to sports. Charlie's a good guy but his show is all over the place...hard to listen to. With a new person I hope they also bring some changes to the show's production.

This morning's show is hosted by Jeff Chidechester (sp??) and their news guy Jason McIver. The discussion this morning was heavy on politics, with local news and Red Sox talk thrown in. Jeff made a point of saying he's there only for a few weeks until a permanent host is found. The search apparently is still on. (Four hours every day of political talk seems a bit excessive.)

Yes...he's talking to someone about museums now.

Lots of politics. He sounds very up and interested.

This type of show ( Morning Show)needs a fairly good balance because everybody isnt into politics. and besides the sports programs the entire rest of the day is conservative political whiners Glen Beck, Rush, Sean Hannity and Micheal Savage.

I wonder what kind of data the local Clear Channel execs were looking at to think that a politics-intensive morning show would be a hit. They canned Charlie to create "New Hampshire’s premiere political talk station". I'm not saying it won't work, but even with the election coming on, can such a specific type of show work?

They better be thinking locally and realistically. Politics is big in NH even without the NH primary. But it ain't everything.

Charlie is the new Executive Director of New Horizons - a soup kitchen, food pantry, shelter in Manchester.

Bring back Gardner Goldsmith!
