WGIR-FM dead air

Gotta wonder who's running the show over at Rock 101 today cause been listening since Nascar ended heard a Tom Petty song then 5 minutes of dead air and then 2 commercials and what do ya know more dead air and has been last 5 minutes as I type this.

Now they are running commercials on top of Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion

You should have phoned their office and left a message because I doubt anyone is there on the weekends. I've called the Clear Channel Portsmouth office on weekends and left messages when the Sox games have been messed up on 96.7, and within minutes they "fixed" the problem.

I can't really listen to AAF,GIR,FNX,CCC (although CCC can be still good at night) anymore when I travel because of the same stale rock all the time. At least TOS and CYY still have a pretty good selection and listenable. I hope TOS gets an Online stream. I miss listening Tom-O and Mr. Mike in the morning here in CT/NYC area. to all -
feel free to let me know of any good Active rock stations left around the northeast and I will surely love to take a listen and maybe I get hooked listening online. Thanks!

Those who were in radio in the 80's (like me) remember the FCC's "Docket 80-90". It was the proposal that assigned a boatload of FM allocations to communities who didn't even ask for them.

That might have been the beginning of the end for local radio as we knew it. And for owners who gave a damn about whether or not there was dead air.

Can you believe for a minute that this WGIR-FM incident would have happened back in 1980-whatever?

Of course not. And it's certainly not the fault of the overworked, multi-tasked people who are now charged with trying to keep 8 or 9 balls in the air at a time and look after these stations.

I love radio, but I hate what's happened to it.
